Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2019

i flew in to Basel, Switzerland last year. it was interesting -- you can exit the airport to France or Switzerland and there were separate customs lines for each exit. It is one step better than having the land bridge they have here from TJ Airport to SD because you would never have to enter Mexico..

Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2019

I was talking to a friend who works at the FBO at CLD, that the runway could be easily extended. El Camino Real, which is the street on the east of the airport, could have a runway built above it. Much the same way Spring Street runs under the main runway at LGB. The land to the east of El Camino R...

Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2019

I'm wondering if there is enough land available at CLD to make the runway long enough for transcon flights? I was wondering the same thing. Could a A220 fly from a 4900 foot runway to somewhere like ATL, JFK or even BOS with a full load? If not, how long of a runway does it need? Looks like it coul...

Re: California Pacific’s assets being sold off?

i really wish we could get a regional carrier back at carlsbad. always thought UA should have had an SFO route rather than LAX. Some O&D in addition to the international connections. LAX was 100% connecting. these small start ups will never make it. oh well

Re: NYC diversions JUL-22-2019

I boarded dl888 Bos-jfk at around 4 and captain came on and said never mind everyone back to the terminal this will be at least a couple hours. I was able to jump on the flight next door to SLC (I’m heading to SAN). terminal A gates in BOS have a ton of stranded and super delayed NYC bound passenger...

Pence is scheduled fly into the San Diego International Airport aboard Air Force Two. He will arrive Wednesday and attend a fundraiser Thursday. Anyone know how to figure out his arrival time to watch AF2 land? https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/US-Vice-President-Mike-Pence-to-Visit-San-Diego-F...

Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2019

Question... UA had the turboprop service for years to LAX from carlsbad, was there ever service to SFO on UA?

I know the history and runway limitations, but I really wish we could get a mainline carrier back at CLD

Re: WN releases Hawaii for sale

a bummer about SAN not being on this inital wave of sales is (i'm guessing) hotel prices are surging for April and May right now -- this is a lot of extra people traveling there that were not booked until 4 hrs ago. Hopefully we get the $49 fare too!!!! also... SWA twitter is saying SAN and SMF will...

Re: Updated: WN 8725 KOAK - PHNL She's on her way!

The 6 hour and 40 minute flight from HNL to DAL has to be their all time longest time and distance flight ever. 6:40 isn't that long if you think about it. I'm sure there are some westbound flights from the east coast that eclipse that number in the winter, especially routes like EWR-OAK or BWI-SAN...

Re: Southwest Finally Announces Intentions to Serve Hawaii

will all 4 CA cities get daily non stop routes to all the Hawaii pairs I wonder? Assume SMF would not have that type of demand. Curious to see what connecting schedule would be like for a MDW - SAN/OAK - OGG or if BWI-SAN/OAK -KOA for example would be possible. I haven't followed super closely -- ha...
