Re: Amazon Fleet Discussion - 2019

It could be absolutely nothing, but as of today the ATI pilot group has now been sent two uniform surveys from HR inquiring about likes/dislikes of current uniforms, sizing etc. The first one was almost a year ago, and was focused on likes and dislikes of current uniforms etc. There was no follow up...

Re: Amazon Fleet Discussion - 2019

WJ and board, here’s an article which I believe provides, IMHO, the most well-reasoned thesis into Amazon’s logistics ambitions. Part 2 hasn’t come out..who knows if it ever will at this point. https://medium.com/@itamarzur/make-no-mistake-amazon-is-going-to-take-on-delivery-behemoths-fedex-and-ups-...

Re: Amazon Fleet Discussion - 2019

I believe the contract with FedEx runs until September 29, 2024. In Amazon years, that’s an eternity. Also, do you think there’s any merit to the idea of that Amazon could repair some of the sentiment in Washington by selling the idea of using its logistics expertise to help the USPS stop the bleedi...

Re: Amazon Fleet Discussion - 2019

Curious as to the board’s thoughts on this article from a few months back by Brittain Ladd suggesting Amazon is a viable contender for the USPS contract. https://observer.com/2019/06/amazon-us-postal-service-acquisition/ The author raises some compelling points. Of note, Ladd published an article in...

Re: Amazon Fleet Discussion - 2019

761’s stay in AFW was indeed scheduled for 10 days from the outset. An ops manager there mentioned they have several hundred people employed at AFW already, although I can’t say for sure how many of those needed airplane training.

Also, N399CM, the Aloha Cargo 767-300, came to ILN today for some kind of maint. It was just there 4/22 to 5/5 for a two-week maintenance visit, so unclear what's up with it. N395CM, which just came out of maintenance, is covering.

Re: Amazon Fleet Discussion - 2019

Analysts love to speculate what Amazon’s moves mean for FedEx and UPS, putting downward pressure on stocks. By getting out in front and saying “we really don’t need you and aren’t going to carry your freight on our airplanes anymore”, they are putting their money where their mouth is and removing so...

Re: Amazon Fleet Discussion - 2019

The reality is that if Atlas wants to drag this out, it's a good three years before anything serious will happen, in my opinion. (Have to get a decision from the Second Circuit on the absolutely-initial question of whether the System Boards of Arbitration at Atlas and Southern will decide whether t...

Re: Amazon Fleet Discussion - 2019

I don't know why Amazon would want directly to hire employees in ILN and AFW. They can't be naive enough to think that the Teamsters and others won't aggressively seek to represent those folks, if only to get a foot in the door and give them leverage in a zillion other parts of Amazon. My theory is...
