Re: Airliners Past: M.E.A. receives their 1st Boeing 747

A rare find online is sure to be this viewing of MEA Middle East Airlines taking ownership of 747-2B4B OD-AGH in May of 1975. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4o4NavB4js ...I must confess, I liked the look of MEA as kid because I saw it as an airline with a christmas tree on the tail. Then I grew u...

Re: Houston Aviation Thread - 2019

Difference is Bahrain is a Monarchy some what, so higher chance of starting vs some MP from the UK saying I would like to see direct flights from London to Khartoum. Who said anything about an MP from the U.K.?! The guy is coming to Houston to drum up investment. You don’t see how saying “Oh yeah, ...

Re: Gulf Air & IAH

IAH should definitely be on the list. Many pax use Emirates from IAH to go back to the Middle East, pakistan,India and Bangladesh. Qatar Airways is restricted as they cannot fly to Saudi so GF would only be competing with Emirates. GF 787 have top of the line premium seats but their entertainment sy...

Re: SaudiGulf drops A220 order, opt for A320 instead

Gulf air did not yet cancel the 220 since they’re still negotiating what to do with the orders. Ultimately they will have to honor it

Re: 787 maintenance access

I used to run Tristars every week when I worked for Gulf Air in the 1980s High power engine runs were required in those days after every engine change (and we changed a lot of engines). Nowadays when an engine is delivered from the shop, it usually needs a leak check at idle only. It has been run o...

Re: Gulf Air to receive four 787s with crew rest areas for flights to New York and Washington D.C

http://www.gdnonline.com/Details/390547/Gulf-Airs-new-Dreamliners-will-allow-flights-to-New-York,-Washington-DC These planes wont start coming until 2020 though but the intention for flights to JFK and/or IAD are real just exactly how do they expect to compete with Emirates,Etihad and the European ...

Re: Gulf Air A320 Neo

No specific info about config, but I would imagine similar if not identical to the current A320ceo config. Here's a piece from CH Aviation News about the new fleet: https://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news/70014-gulf-air-adds-maiden-a320neo business (2-2 config) and economy (3-3) config. The busines...

Re: Tri Jet Production

The Tristar Nbr 2 was similar to the DC10. You needed a couple of technicians to do the clever parts, and about ten labourers to do all the heavy lifting.!! I worked in BAH with Gulf Air and we changed Nbr 2 engines outdoors using the bootstrap chains. The hangar was not tall enough for a Tristar t...

Re: Gulf Air unveils growth strategy, upcoming brand refresh

I've been following gf for years now and the only thing they could do is disappoint. They spent a lot on re-branding- something they never really needed as they spent billions to come up with the old livery in 2003. Since then the only thing they did was get rid of profit making assets such as their...

Re: Will Jet Airways ever return to the US?

They are entering a code share agreement with AF/KLM and Delta so I doubt there will be direct flights but there will be more options!!
