I'm willing to bet OKC or AUS sees more diversions per year than any other airport in the country. Maybe IAH as well.

And yes, Florida sees tons of small but powerful t-storms, meaning diversions rarely go to other states.

Southwest is absolutely bursting at the seams in SLC. They currently have only four gates (down from six at the old terminal). When I was there in March, two flights were delayed. Three planes had to wait over 30 minutes for a gate. One plane waited 75 minutes on the taxiway.

Only in places where it is required.

I remember flying to Vietnam on JAL in December 2019, before COVID was really a thing. On my flights, around 50% of the Asian pax wore masks. It's a cultural thing for them. Me? It's not, so I won't.
