Re: Heathrow to Walvis Bay. Swiss, and SAA Express. Economy

I think you deserve some comfort for your return journey. Had to smile about the “awful airport” part above. Reminds me of a work colleague going home to SA from London. We worked close to LGW (8 Km away) and he said it was quicker to travel to Durban via DXB from LGW than it was flying BA or SA fro...

Re: British Airways Club Europe: Disruption and Delight - NCL-LHR-STR.

Glad you enjoyed your flights with BA despite the problems you encountered. I feel sorry as well for any crew having to deal with pax who have ‘enjoyed’ a bevvy or two too many before departure. Fortunately I haven’t had to experience any problems regarding that on any flight so far. It’s a shame th...

Brilliant report! Great in you for indulging yourself on something so memorable. Loved the part about arriving right by the Little Mermaid, I once stayed at a hotel very close by. I wasn’t aware of this service at all but reading about it has given me ideas about a possible trip to Denmark next year...

Re: BA Singapore to Heathrow, World Traveller

BA, when they’re good, they are very good. However they do have a history of indifference in service which wasn’t very good in the 70s and 80s. British and European charter carriers were far superior and BCAL were considered a class act. A hangover from the era of BOAC and BEA before merger, when th...

I live 20 minutes drive from Brooklands and think it’s an amazing place, a friend of mine volunteers there. Duxford is totally different but superb too, go if you ever have the chance. Your journey is one I could easily enjoy, so am looking forward to the rest of your reports. I love Norway and it’s...

Great report, I really enjoyed reading it. Good luck with the cancer, I’m surviving the disease at the moment so wish you well with it all. MRI scans are as noisy if not more so than engines on old aircraft aren’t they! And as you so rightly say, keeping your wife in a good mood is always a good ide...

Re: To the Oil Rigs of India & North America! - Part 2

I enjoy your reports very much. I agree that MAN is not a great airport at the moment but hopefully their refurb plans will give north west England an airport to be really proud of. LGW has certainly benefited from recent investment. Like others have commented your insight into another industry is f...

As a fellow cancer patient I send my wishes for a continued successful outcome for you. I had seven and a half weeks of daily radio therapy four years back so know how gruelling it is. Fortunately for me though the centre was under ten minutes drive from home. However at least you had the opportunit...

Re: Last Person Out Of The Commuter Terminal At SAN - Ever!!

Although there was no media coverage you still have that sense of making history - personal to you. Always a shame when part of an airport closes or is redeveloped but in many instances it’s for the best. Really pleased for you that fortune was in your side with the delay to your flight.

Really like your writing style! Yep, Luton is an experience. I first flew from there (LTN) - AMS on a court line bac 1-11 500. Bright pink it was. Seat back catering too. I like the props but they ate noisy although I haven’t experienced the Q’s yet.

Thanks for your comments. I love anything to do with civil aviation. I’m still excited by flying and have the buzz every time I’m near an airport or see a plane overhead. Flight radar is a def bonus and use it whenever I can. I miss the days of freer access to airports and easily accessible viewing ...
