Re: New Norm? - UAL has averaged 80 flts. in the air 3/27

Last week I was trying to get home from Frankfurt on UA and the flights to EWR, ORD, IAD & my flight to SFO had less than 100 pax including our 77W and EWRs 787-10 at the opposite gate. UA had, at that point, cancelled all flights to LAX from LHR (original departure point). At that time I figure...

While we’re all waiting, I checked gas prices at the ARCO in the background. It’s $3.00 for regular, per Gas Buddy. At least 15 cents cheaper than where I live.

I always wondered about an A380 super tanker. With the way things are progressing for the worst, it would not be such a bad idea, at least in theory. I’m not sure the structure of the fuselage/wings could handle any potential stresses caused by constant low/slow flying and the rapid release of water...

EY retired their 77L fleet last year and four are stored in San Bernardino, plus one either in Casablanca (last FR24 location) or dismantled in the UK (Airfleets description) I did have that feeling in the back of my mind, but wasn’t sure. Rather unfortunate. I’ll drive by tomorrow to check them out.

I live about five minutes from ONT, and can say the quakes have been rather mild. I’d say the only airport that may have damage would be the China Lake Naval Base basically on top of the epicenter, at least from the 7.1 we just had.

Also, what does 1,3,5,7 stand for as 2nd digit of the suffix? Engine manufacturer and type. It's a bit more complicated on the narrowbodies, due to duplicate options for similar providers. On the widebodies it's a bit more simple. For example: A330-303: "0" = General Electric A330-323: &q...
