Re: Chicago Aviation Thread - 2019

Just curiosity getting the better of me, but does anyone know about a RU301 doing a really last minute go-around @ ORD about a month ago? I saw it from 1/2 mile out, and it couldn't have been more than 200ft off the ground before hitting the throttles. Wondering if there was a good story behind it.

Re: Atlas Air 3591 Down in Trinity Bay, Texas

Video of the wreckage found so far: https://youtu.be/-G-KfcFQg9U The angles on whats left of the fan blades seems to indicate at least one of those engines impacted while still spinning. From most eyewitness accounts, people reported at least one engine running. Even if both engines failed the odds...

Re: Official: Airbus announces A380 production to end in 2021

I'm not a big fan of Airbus in general, but I am sad to see the A380 go. It was a pretty bird. I used to enjoy watching BA297 fly into ORD until they changed it to a 777. It'll be back to A380 next summer. Whoohoo! There is a park 1/2 mile from 10C @ ORD . Kids would love to go there and play while...

Re: Atlas Air or Giant 3591 Down in Trinity Bay, Texas

More likely the turn was to avoid weather, which is what they wanted from ATC. GF Doubtful. That turn is sudden and intentional... not ATC instructed. This looks like a turn to avoid casualties on the ground. Um what? They were at 9,000 when they started the left turn. This looks like a turn to avo...

Re: Chicago Aviation News - 2018

Looking up at the sky tonight waiting for BA297. Just after, I saw an interesting occurrence with an MD-11, wondering if anyone else saw it. He looked to be slowing a bit too much a few miles out from ORD, and appeared to start losing altitude quickly. He suddenly pitches up at an absurd angle, and ...
