Yes read the order and watching the radio silence also just curious if the existing birds could make it or NZ not willing to not fill some seats westbound is all im not technical so dont know the difference in GE v RR engines......maybe it needs the MTOW bump for all to be considered or also waiting...

Yes i am a UA FF So star are really weak now in LATAM. Not opposed to flying through IAH but someone mentioned UA are using IAH as South America hub but its not that convenient for north east people due due to back tracking

Agree will be about yields and if they can get a premium.over one stop options.

If the price economy return at say $1k and SAA price one stop at $800 i'd stick with SAA just my 2cents

If the 789 has premium exon this may help with yields also by then dunno what the timeline is to have installed

A350 to JFK should help profitability I think the pilot said we burned about 150,000 lbs of fuel JNB to JFK.....i think thats right....not sure if these flights are freight heavy or not

I did the retrn leg back to JFK. No real complaints just older seats and IFE. I know the issues SAA face and not even being able to make CPT -LHR work was just a thought guven the traffic in CPT is not small albiet seasonal....even on my CPT -JNB flight alot of brits so maybe part of package or some...

Would MIA to JNB or CPT be so stupid for AA. I remember SAA use to fly to FLL for cruiae traffic....maybe a 788 is ideal would be shorter than JFK and have good hub to support.

I can't see the 78J as replacement for the 772. It may match seat count but doesn't have the range and I know many have said the 789 will pick up the slack there but these are smaller planes so would they do daily into IAH year round or double daily as example....I think it makes more sense to repla...

I feel NYC and presumably EWR will be about segmenting the US, and leveraging their one stop options for those outside SYD on the Oz end who don't want to do the domestic to Intl transfer at SYD, but also penetrate the NE of the US and Canada. What I find interesting about this flight is the flight path. I have seen numerous times the flight almost over flies LA and then heads SW to Sydney whereas the NZ flight to AKL.goes across Mexico more in straight kien.
