Re: Why no second commercial airport for Atlanta?

Funny juxtaposition "Right now in the forum":

  • Why no second commercial airport for Atlanta?
  • Delta plans to emerge a "smaller" carrier

Re: DL201 JNB-ATL 777 diverts to MIA this morning

On December 29, they had a (fuel?) stop in JFK. I had to correct my mental map a little: JNB-JFK is about 400nm shorter than JNB-ATL, which I would not have expected.

Re: How come DL185 (ATL-PVG) is not a polar route today but DL583 (DTW-PVG) is!?

Quick comparison: DL185 ATL-PVG took 16h16 (including a circle before landing) and DL583 DTW-PVG took 14h21. If DL185 had first flown to Detroit (say in around 1h30) and then followed the DL583 route, it would have ended up taking around the same time. Plus, if you check out some ATL-DTW routes from...

Re: WOW Financial Discussion Thread

A bit off-topic but does anybody know why today's WOW252 YUL-KEF is seriously delayed? TF-PRO operated the incoming flight on time but is still in Montreal. Instead, WOW9251 (TF-DOG) just took of from Keflavik, presumably as a "rescue flight". Poor passengers. Given the financial worries, ...

Re: Go Around weird timing - Video

Anybody else notice how in this video, after the captain "firewalls" the throttles and moves his right hand back to the yoke at around 0:15, the throttle moves back? I would have thought that A/T would be disengaged at that point, but it's hard to see if he pushed the A/T button.

Re: Plane flying in a perfect circle near MAN

You see a fair bit of this in Canada too, e.g. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/NVC301/history/20180822/1430Z/CYUL/CYUL or https://flightaware.com/live/flight/NVC302/history/20180830/1815Z/CYUL/CYUL In this case the call sign (NVC=Nav Canada) is a giveaway. Check out the history for NVC300, 301, ...

DL151 ATL-LIM returning to ATL

Tonight's Delta flight 151 from Atlanta to Lima, Peru (operated by N829MH) ⋅ turned back just after crossing into Florida, ⋅ carried out a missed approach on one of the 27 runways at ATL after about 1 hour in the air, ⋅ spent about half an hour in a hold at 6000ft about...
