Re: United Airlines Network - 2024

UA said it will start summer 2025 in the statement, so I don’t think it’s an issue with the market. I think it is likely lack of aircraft as you mention. They have not received all the aircraft deliveries they were supposed to for this summer. The other new routes such as ORD-ATH are still happenin...

Re: United Airlines Fleet Discussion - 2024

No, I didn't forget that facet of the issue. I never said replace 1 753 with a 2 321s. Think: - 5 or 6 321s where there are 4 or 5 753s today Or - 2 321s where there is a 753 and a 320/319 today - Even at LAX, you could make up the lost 753 seat by subbing all 321s for all flights to other hubs. To...

On what, performance or CASM? No doubt the 757 is a more capable aircraft, but for the most part United doesn't use the 753 on missions where stage length, field performance, etc matters. They are using them as people haulers between hubs with stage lengths of less than 1800 miles. My point was tha...

I believe EWR-CPT will become the longest scheduled 772 flight by any airline worldwide, a title it's taking away from EWR-DXB. UA currently flies 777-200ERs on SFO - SYD which is a GC distance of 7,417 miles, EWR - DXB is only 7,817 miles. Just wanted to correct your distance on DXB-EWR, although ...

I'm curios if the UA expansion is more focused on domestic or international? I mean for domestic, why not start converting the entire 772s into the high seat 360+ configurations? 70 strong domestic 772s on main sites can do a lot to relief the NB now to other domestic choices. I'm betting that is p...

May I ask a not so related question? I don’t know what thread to put it in, but given United’s huge fleet of 772’s, I’ll just throw it out there: Why didn’t the 772 ever get a winglet? If they genuinely save fuel, and UA has 74 of them, there must be a logical reason. She’s the only bird I can thin...

It would appear to me that the 777As may have some years left, but it's probably too expensive to upgrade the seats with NEXT type systems for a few years. I see two options with 772A retirements: 1.) Do the 787-10 swap to make the current 78Xs domestic units. However, the current 78X is a fantasti...
