Re: WestJet News and Discussion - 2024

AC's return seems unlikely until they acquire their A321XLR. Meanwhile, there's a notable gap in service from the west coast to Latin America, with only Aeromexico operating from YVR. A non-stop route to BOG, EZE, or GRU could prove successful. YYC-EZE is almost the same distance as YYC HKG, 6808 v...

Re: WestJet News and Discussion - 2024

Air Canada has supended both LIM and SCL from YYZ and YUL. That speaks volumes of the current demand for these two markets. I think the only LATAM market sustainbable from the west coast would be BOG with 2 or 3 weekly frequencies, specially because of its cargo business. EZE is a great market for ...

Re: WestJet News and Discussion - 2024

Considering the bulk of the 787 flying during the winter is sun destinations (and even AC putting wide bodies on sun routes) it seems to be a financially sound decision so far. Ultimately I think WS will choose to take 2-4 more 787s. still the question of what to do with them in the winter remains....

The number one connection to the IST PTY flight is BOM. That should give you all an idea of the type of traffic it. Low yielding. Perhaps the 787 might offer a better opportunity to manage the capacity better and drive up some yields. Does AI know about that ? Seems that an AI thrice weekly DEL/BOM...

I can see the 321 Neos be used into Latin markets that need the range (or performance) like ASU and UIO and the Max10s put on US domestic and higher volume lesiure (like MCO and CUN) where CASM control is vital.
