Glad to see PHL gain nonstop service to Africa and be AA’s first step into the continent. With RAM joining OW next year, I am optimistic that this flight will be a success. I would have preferred to have seen RAM launch the route as it would be nice to see an additional foreign carrier at PHL, but b...Jump to post
Several in the thread linked below suggest PHL as one of two new US destinations LH is planning to launch from MUC. Fingers crossed.
They also dropped SAT to less than daily, OKC from 2>1x day, and OMA from 2 > slightly more than 1x day. So either they are marginal performers and some type of Max cut or AA does not want to commit more capacity to PHL. IMO, AA's situation in PHL is interesting. I think there is a certain amount o...Jump to post
Per the weekly OAG Changes thread posted today, AA is launching 1x daily service to XNA beginning in September. Great to see AA continue to fill in the destination map from PHL. I’m guessing this will be American Eagle on an E175 and suspect XNA was chosen due to Business travelers to/from Walmart H...Jump to post

Interesting discussion going on in the thread linked below about AA reportedly considering launching non-stop flights to India and Africa and PHL mentioned as a likely beneficiary of such routes. Obviously this is all mere speculation at this point, but this would be a boon for PHL if it ever comes ...Jump to post

Per an article in the PBJ today, F9 is planning to have 180 pilots based at PHL by YE 2019, which is a likely indicator of continued expansion by F9 at PHL. https://www.bizjournals.com/philadelphia/news/2019/01/22/frontier-airlines-phl-philly-pilot-crew-base.html?iana=hpmvp_phil_news_headline The ne...Jump to post

Nice add by NK. Hopefully this flight will be timed better than the F9 flight to SJU that arrives at 2:19 AM.
I wish we would see a carrier start daily service to SDQ since AA currently just operates the route seasonally and even then only on Saturdays I believe.
Frontier resuming PHL service to RDU service 3x weekly. I'm sure more expansion is coming soon. Over on the Frontier Airlines Network Thread, a poster mentioned that PHL became a pilot base as of 1/1/2019 and that the airline is ramping up staffing at the airport which likely indicates further expa...Jump to post
Thanks for starting this thread, Bigant0408. Here are some routes I see as possible announcements in 2019 (many already predicted by fellow posters): Domestic -SBN -TOL -DAB (likely seasonal...akin to EYW, MLB, SRQ announced in 2018) -LIT -PIA or MLI -GRB or ATW -AUG -SJC or return of SMF which US o...Jump to post
Tell that to AA. Philly is the poorest largest city in the U.S. We have a ton of leisure travelers and some business travelers. So there is demand just not at the NYC area level. PHL and IAD is connecting hubs for AA and UA respectfully. NYC area can focus in on moving large cities to lagre cities ...Jump to post
Disappointing to see AA drop the PHL-MEX route after only ~6 months (route began July 5th and a quick Google search shows last flight on January 5th). Wish wish they would at least keep it seasonal. I suspect the schedule was partly the reason the route did not perform as expected. The PHL-MEX fligh...Jump to post
They also relaunched ORD-ABE today 2x daily, equipment hasn’t been announced or loaded into their website. UA is running it 3x daily with Air Wisconsin I do believe. They operated this route on an ERJ-145 (I think) before or right after the merger. It may of only lasted one year, very short lived. ...Jump to post
Two great new adds at PHL by AA. Although I believe it will be a net zero increase in capacity after dropping ERI which had two daily ERJ-145 and CHA and AVL will both be once daily (haven’t heard this confirmed...mere speculation), it opens up two new destinations not currently served by any other ...Jump to post
As a PHL follower id love to see PHL-SAN to give AA some competition and also PHL to San Jose. Doubt any of them will happen tho but wishful thinking Agreed. SJC would be my first choice as it would be a new destination from PHL. AS and AA are the only two carriers likely to ever operate this route...Jump to post
Hello all! Longtime reader, first time poster here. Here are my thoughts on some decent candidates for domestic route expansion at PHL: SBN - Granted AA just resumed service to FWA and might want to give that route time to mature. TOL/FNT/LAN - One of the three. I believe (might be wrong) that the ...Jump to post
