Re: Irish 7/20

Does it really make a difference which countries are on the green list, as the insurance companies will not cover you, as long as the government advises against non essential travel. Between this and the bar/restaurant issue, the government appear to be out of their depth. Has the “non essential tr...

At LX the A220 and 77W are operated by Swiss Global Air Lines. Which used to to Swiss European and Was formed out of Swiss to operate the Avros. It’s arguable if the A223s are operated by mainline or not, I guess. At IAG BA Cityflyer can’t fly aircraft Certified for more than 100 seats, which might...

Re: Irish 10/19: Winter is coming

Here's a few pictures of business class (AerSpace) on the Aer Lingus A321neo from Dublin to LHR. The €150 fare was well worth it for the lie-flat seat. I wouldn't pay for it just for the normal blocked middle seat. The IFE selection was extremely limited, just a handful of Irish films/documentaries....

The new East Lounge opening soon : http://i1160.photobucket.com/albums/q493/travelpics2019/6CC2BBC0-F4A1-48D9-AE22-22CD47AE3CBC_zpsn9tft4c2.jpg Do we assume this lounge will be exclusive to CX, QR, EK (and perhaps TK?)? I seem to remember seeing somewhere that it will be open to pay-to-enter custom...

Re: Irish 7/19

If it was an ATR, Avro, Q400, SB340 then it would have to lay idle. And like I said, There's extra charges for using a jetbridge, and many airlines don't want to pay. The LHR, FRA and CDG flights might, but BCY, STK and BEE can't use them, and TUI, Sunwing, Sky Travel, Blue Air, Logan, Moldova etc ...

Re: Irish 6/19: Dublin's bubblin' ...

As for why the kiosk doesn't accept the passport card and other forms of ID, it's probably because it can't scan them without an update to the software and the machine itself, much like the e-gates at immigration recently. The machines at LTN wouldn't accept my own passport card yesterday. Lufthans...

Re: Irish 6/19: Dublin's bubblin' ...

Flying out of DUB this morning and noticed that the EY lounge has finally shut. Sad sight as it was the best lounge at DUB. It will be replaced by a new lounge catering for ‘East’ carriers as reported by Fora earlier in the year. : https://fora.ie/dublin-airport-east-lounge-4487916-Feb2019/ Oneworl...

Re: Irish 5/19: Summer is a comin' in!

At a guess, they want to keep capacity as high as possible for the summer sum routes. My guess is that the summer sun routes go out full, or nearly full and that they can attract very high fares without giving away the sandwiches. Of the EU routes they have competition offering J on all but MIL, GV...

Re: Irish 3/19: Marching skyward

Would be nice to have LOT back too. They are expanding rapidly and a DUB service is an obvious gap! LOT seem like the most notable absent European airline at Dublin. Especially since Aer Lingus droped Warsaw there surely must be demand for them to fly to Dublin. Great to see TAP back but it’s not b...

Re: Irish 3/19: Marching skyward

Here are some estimated load factors for new routes from Dublin based on CSO 2018 figures. This is just my own estimates so may not be entirely accurate due to flight cancellations, possible extra flights etc. Aeroflot SVO (This is assuming the A320 used is in the 140 seats configuration rather than...

Have the taxiway works between Pier 3/4 finished yet? They were blocking a few gates from being used on Piers 3 and 4 since last November.

What’s with the Frankfurt cancellations? EI656/657 on 1 Feb cancelled. EI656/657 on 8 Feb cancelled. Both announced on the day. EI656/657 cancelled on 27 Feb. Got word this morning that EI650/651 cancelled on 25 February. Rang EI Concierge line this morning and was told that the flight on the 25th ...

I agree that LX / LH cover Eastern Europe and the CIS but not always easily. Better connections through Frankfurt but not a great fan - too many missed connections. Zurich is easier but connections, because of current LX timings, are no great. Maybe the second LX flight might offer more Austrian ha...

Re: Irish 9/18: Autumnal aviation

Yes for example DUB-LIS 1730/2010 then LIS-GRU 2320/0520 When TP launched MAN with an E190 the connections didn't work very well in one direction. IIRC TAP now fly twice daily to MAN. The schedule would also work reasonably for FNC. Is there any direct flight to Madeira these days, even a charter? ...
