It has nothing to do with the performance of the route or AA, IIRC all A330s are being moved to FRA so the flight had to go to an A350. The 12000 for runway was supposed to be used by the American 737s who, when using 36C, use the hill on the side of Old Dowd Road to force themselves into the air. Ain't that the truth! CLT doesn't have non-gate ramp space to RON? We do. The bigger one is next to taxiway Echo, namely by E15-E16-E17. Those are mostly taken up by Delta and American. The other hardstand location is up against the fence at the construction site of Concourse A Phase II. United uses all of those spots. ...
