This is typical for this situation. Go see the gate agent as soon as you can and request what you prefer. By no means does this mean you are stuck in the middle seat next to the toilets. Next year United plans to expand it's premium 767 service to Switzerland from Newark (EWR). It was not specified whether GVA or ZRH serivce would start first. I actually watched it happen as I was there to pick up my sister. The landing didn't look terribly or too abnormal until the end where I noticed it slid left. Little pieces of debris went flying.

It appears United is blocking 8 economy seats on this flight in rows 38 and 39. They're not blocking them from sale, just from seating. You'll notice that United block seats in rows 16, 38 and 39 on all long haul B789 flights, independent of destination (you'll find the same on LAX-SYD for example)...
