Re: DL2353 diverts to TPA after rapidly descending from FL 390

You clearly have reading comprehension issues. A). None of those are the same flight. Please enlighten us and tell us which two are the same? B). I clearly said in my first post “Now it’s bad landings, emergency landings, trapping customers onboard for hours.” C). EVERY single one of the incidents ...

Will Delta regret not ordering a similar replacement for the Md-88?

With Delta significantly increasing the aircraft numbers in the 180-199 seat range, I know we will see an increase in some routes, but what about the ones who can’t handle that big of an increase? I know Delta is smart in what they do, but this will be interesting to see how they do this shuffle tha...

Also, DL used to do JFK to PSA (Pisa, Italy) with a 757 which probably suffered the headwinds too.

Re: What soured relations between Boeing and Delta?

Sure. The relationship has been better. Although that is true, like many have said, these are businesses. They will do what works best for THEMSELVES. It always turns into a “well Boeing did this” or “Delta did that.” At the end of the day, that does not matter to either because they will do what is...

Re: Delta Wants to be NMA Launch Customer

I hope they are. DL has been almost exclusively buying Airbus since the NW merger and it would be nice to see a DL Boeing order. Not that I have a problem with DL buying Airbus (the 321neo over the 737 MAX 10 was the right move IMO), but it is disappointing when DL won't order the planes like the 7...

Delta MD-88s in Atlanta

As we all know, the MD-88 is the HUGE workhorse and is on probably close to every mainline route up and down the east coast from Atlanta. As more and more phase out, what will be the new / next dominant fleet to take over Atlanta? Or will it be spread throughout different fleets? I know that far out...

Re: What are the top 10 unserved markets from ATL?

Without PDEWs this thread is just babble. You've got to be able to fill a plane with adequate range with decent fares. Oh well, on a.net, we can have threads about everything. This is a typical pointless thread, with a pointless and undefined question that has an infinite range of possible but usel...

Delta covers so many different destinations from ATL, what are some that are not served that could potentially in the future? (Hoping for PDEW demand)

Re: Ed Bastian on SLC: "One of the things I’d like to be able to do is create an Asian route"

I think people truly underestimate the power of the simple fact of location. SLC and DEN are greatly placed cities for airlines. Obviously that shows considering the Hubs. But yes, Salt Lake does not have a huge population, but you have to think of the entire areas catchment. What is the closest int...

I thought is was the other way around... 2021 moved up to 2020?

Delta’s CEO has said that by the end of 2020 all MD-88s will be gone.

Salt Lake City questions

1. I have heard that Delta is unable to fly the MD-88s in and out of here. Why is that? 2. In the summer, since it is considered a “Hot and High” airport, do airlines adjust equipment based on this? 3. When the new terminals open, how many gates will Delta get? How many in total? 4. Does anyone have...

Small plane crashes on Kennesaw State University Campus

A small plane crashes on Campus Loop Rd. In Kennesaw, Georgia, Cobb County in North Atlanta. I go to that school and saw the wreackage. The pilot and passenger were responsive. The plane suffered an engine failure. Not too sure of the plane type. https://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/cobb-county/plane-cr...

So DL adding flights from Atlanta isn’t due to competition?

DL goes double daily mainline on DTW-JAX

Delta shows its commitment to DTW by making DTW-JAX mainline and 2x per day. It will be operated by 2- 737-900s Dec 22- Jan 4, then switches over to 2- MD-90s until the end of schedule. This replaces the 1x daily CRJ-900

Re: 10 yrs since DELTA & NORTHWEST merge!

I don’t really understand everyone’s obsession with airlines having 30,000 different hubs. Delta, United, American, (the list goes on) all have conveniently placed hubs. Whether it be strategically or population-based. So, when there is a merger, hubs overlap eachother causing some to close. 1 loss...

Re: Largest unserved markets from SLC?

I definitely think growth is possible after the construction is finished. And it’s amazing that DL continues to add despite the construction (PIT, CMH, CLE). I am hoping eventually that Kahului will happen on a more regular basis. They could definitely do that with a 757. Also, would it be possible ...

Re: Largest unserved markets from SLC?

I could see DL upgauging their larger flights. I know Atlanta is the destination with the most seats (obviously) but hopefully they can add more seats to top business and leisure destinations. It’s a shame to see the Honolulu flight going from the Airbus A330-300 to the Boeing 757-200. I was under t...

From my experience, I have seen that almost all flights to Iceland (from MSP or JFK) have left pretty much full every time. I know that that doesn’t always show success but they are obviously doing pretty well.
