Or failing that, anything that looks like a part number or identifier from the strut label or elsewhere would help some of the wizards on here to give you model and series, and a tail number wouldn't surprise me.

Re: Landing Gear retraction

Hi, Correct me if I am wrong, but I am given to understand that when the gear is retracted into the wheelwell, braking is applied to stop the wheels spinning. If this is the case, can anyone explain why please? Many thanks Just to expand a little to the OP, tyres on the main gear almost universally...

Very basically, system voltage and therefore the charger voltage has to be at a higher potential than the batteries in order to get some charge into them. 24V battery on a 28V system is standard.

Interesting thread indeed. While I could imagine that the task of programming a digital FBW is already highly complex - but how the heck did they manage to implement this complex logic in an analog aircraft like the Concorde? Of a similar era, the F-111 did it purely mechanically. Pitch and roll st...

Getting a brand new, non-retreaded tire out of the warehouse is more of a surprise actually.

A retread tire is little different to getting an avionics box that's been repaired and checked at the workshop, or a hydraulic actuator that's just out of overhaul.

Maybe they are required to provide info to CASA but 3 flights are nowhere near enough to be meaningful in any sense. If CASA accepts such a useless dataset, you'd have to wonder why they bother and the whole thing is a rubber-stamp. Realistically, you probably need 30 flights in both directions wit...

Re: Study of U.S. Air Force aircraft inventories

I'm not so sure about the bases in Australia. The Government here has welcomed the increased Marine contingent that are based near Darwin with open arms, and I suspect that if and/or when a serious request is made, it would be granted without much of a fuss. Australia is certainly more likely, IMO, ...

Given that the current VC-25 fleet was completed as a bare passenger airframe then moved off the line to get its special modifications, it's really little different to gut and then modify an already used airframe.
