I was thinking about various EK routes to India, e.g. BOM or DEL where a A321NEO would make sense. But then again, they normally use WB aircraft on these routes as they are usually (pre C-19) packed.

So, yes, it's being sold off, piecemeal. One might still get part of the action! Getting good statistics on DXB's O&D traffic is a challenge, but it is believed to be about 30% 0&D (70% connecting). Ok, these are not any statistics but just a personal impression. I have flown on EK very often, mostly connecting at DXB to Asia but I have also just flown to Dubai itself.....

PrivatAir used to do a cool route of FRA-PNQ (Pune, India) directly with an older 737 in wet lease for LH. Return flight always had a fuel stop in OTP or in Tbilisi. Half of the plane was business class, other half in Y. Was convenient to be able to skip the road trip from BOM to PNQ city.

I will make a prediction that Boeing will cancel the 777X. Very unlikely. It's already developed and in testing. Most likely they will let customer defer deliveries or switch to 787 and cut production down to the bare minimum (Worse case scenario 6 frames a year) until orders start to pick back up....
