Re: Future of AA hub at PHX

SF is #5 and BOS is #6. PHX is just over half the size of SF metro area [citation needed] Citation please. Per the US Government, PHX Metro is larger at 4,857,962 versus SFO metro at 4,729,484. To be fair they put SJC in its own metro which I think is realistically part of the SFO area but even the...

Re: Future of AA hub at PHX

PHX also isn’t the least profitable hub. I forgot which thread it was but I believe numbers were posted showing MIA and LAX as less profitable (potentially JFK as well). I believe PHX is actually 3rd on a margin basis after DFW and CLT. The single most profitable flight (again on a margin basis) in...

Re: Future of AA hub at PHX

I suspect people who keep bringing this up have no idea that the Phoenix metro area has almost as many people as the Boston metro and is the same size as the San Francisco metro area. Its always compared to cities like Cleveland and Memphis which are literally half the size of Phoenix

Re: Haneda slots

I’m going to Kyoto next month from Boston and the JAL nonstop to NRT makes things a bit more complicated... not less. So I’m taking Korean’s 787-9 to Seoul and backtracking to Osaka. Same in reverse. A HND nonstop from Boston would certainly have kept me on JAL metal (or someone else’s). How is it ...

Re: Why no direct MIA-IAD flight?

For AA its because yields to DCA are higher plus DCA is cheaper, and effectively serves the majority of people looking to go the the DC area. For UA why fly to MIA if you get the same mostly leisure yields as you do to FLL when FLL has half the costs per enplanement.

Re: Why doesn't Itami have any International Flights?

If anything it would be UKB getting the international flight first, negotiation and discussion have already started. There is almost 0% chance that ITM can resume back to international operations but UKB is better and more ideal than ITM for international flight anyway. It’s right next to Sannomiya...

Re: AA Phoenix to Tokyo?

Phoenix would have more demand for international flights if it weren't for a few factors the biggest being Arizona's education system. Arizona is currently ranked as one of the worst performing states (ranked 48th, practically dead last) when it comes to education. Employers and companies take note...

Re: AA wide bodies at PHX

There are currently 4 wide body configured gates in T4. Two on N4: B25 and B23, one on N3: B13 and one on N1: A30. The two N4 gates are common use and are configured for all commonly used wide bodies except the 748 and A388. The other two gates(B13 and A30) are AA exclusive and require blocking off ...

Re: Why hasn’t plane design changed much?

An increase in speed does not have to be supersonic, but just below. The new large twins are being touted as being able to fly 18-20 hours, I for one would rather make a connection with time to walk around the terminal than be seated for almost a day in a cramped seat with no leg room. A faster pla...
