Re: Wizz Air News & Expansion

From W6's FB page. New airport for W6 (BRU) competing directly with LOT's new BUD-BRU. How convenient. We are proudly announcing the allocation of another state-of-the-art Airbus A321neo aircraft at our base in Budapest and the start of three new services. From the 1st of June, 2020 we'll start a n...

Re: Wizz Air News & Expansion

According to the link below, Wizz Air will cut selected frequencies from London Luton and additionally suspend six routes (Turku, Verona, Bari, Catania, Tallinn and Ljubljana). At this point it's still unclear whether some of those routes might be resumed next summer. https://www.pasazer.com/news/42...

Re: Wizz Air News & Expansion

Is anyone aware of any rumors swirling around regarding new routes or aircraft allocations? I've heard a fourth plane will be based in Krakow starting next January while BUD-MSQ (almost a given by now), BUD-CLJ and BUD-BEY are rumored as well. Personally, I could see W6 basing another aircraft each ...

Re: Wizz Air News & Expansion

Which potential routes do you see for W6 in Vienna? I think the should consider the following - Turku (HEL currently with insanely high average fares from VIE) - Leipzig/Nuremberg (in case their BRE/DTM/CGN endeavor turns out well; routes with rather low frequency and w/o a price battle from VIE à ...

Re: Wizz Air News & Expansion

Wizz Air will also be closing a number of Vienna routes from the W2019 schedule: Bergen Gdańsk Malmo Tuzla (previously announced) These are supposedly going to operate again in S2020, but let's see. Given the extremely low average fares especially for their flights to Tuzla and Malmö I'm not surpri...

Re: Wizz Air News & Expansion

- Tel Aviv (unfortunately El Al protectionism prevents this for the moment, otherwise a no-brainer given W6's strong performance in Israel) How exactly does LY prevent W6 from flying SEN - TLV? Of course, LY can't prevent W6 to launch SEN-TLV. But their lobbying is at least partially to blame for t...

Re: Wizz Air News & Expansion

Assuming these are on the Hungarian AOC, W6 is still aggressively targeting the UK market! I'm wondering what the next W9 base will be... At this point it's almost a certainty that Lviv will be opened next summer (this has been repeatedly stated by the airport's CEO). Otherwise I suppose it's mostl...

Re: Edinburgh Airport Thread - 2019

It was only a matter of time Wizzair starting their operations. I do wonder if in a few months time if they'll pull out of Glasgow and consolidate at Edinburgh instead. As of now, both routes are loaded into the system up until March 2020 (=they will operative simultaneously). I presume Wizz Air wi...
