Re: Nordic Aviation - 2019

I have read somewhere that if the oil price is low their position was to wait and perhaps use them for new routes, as a try out. I wasn’t sure if they now also announced anything on that

Re: Nordic Aviation - 2019

They don’t say anything what will happen with the 340 it replaces? Will they take it off or try out something new?

Re: Nordic Aviation - 2019

I doubt they will start any routes on Middle East. The competition is fierce. I believe however that some Indian destination are within reach, even though, as you point out, transatlantic is perhaps the most obvious choice. Personally I do not hope they will use these additions to try out things fro...

If TP orders 12 LR why shouldn't SK do the same? Having more than one hub is even more justified.

Why do you think that is justified and what other network airlines have succeeded with 2-3 hubs on a home market with 20 millions?

Re: Nordic Aviation - 2019

According to Times of India , Finnair pulls out of Goa after 25 years of operation. Presumably, AY will use the aircraft operating to GOI on another route, either launching a totally new route or increasing frequencies on a currently operated route. I would like to see AY replacing GOI by another I...

Re: Nordic Aviation - 2019

You are right SAS have been messing around and Finnairs journey is impressive. They looked at their business and what are their advantages. Based on that made a simple and understandably strategy and went all in. Really, hats off.

Re: Nordic Aviation - 2019

It's interesting to compare Finnair and SAS and their growth. In the good old days SAS was roughly three times the size of Finnair, depending what was measured (pax, fleet, staff). Nowadays, the size difference has shrunken considerably, SAS now being approximately double in size compared with Finn...

That would be suicide for SAS

Selling the LHR slots would be very very short sighted.

Re: Nordic Aviation - 2019

Since it is only 3 planes one could wonder if this is a trial. If it turns out well they will convert some of the orders they have on A321neo to LR. Then I suppose they will be better equipped to realise all those ideas.

Re: Nordic Aviation - 2019

CPH-BOS but how about some new routes instead of adding capacity to EWR, such as: CPH-YYZ, CPH-YUL or CPH-BOM. YYZ is covered well by AC. BOM is definitely a candidate. How about OSL-ORD? I know YYZ is covered by AC but SAS is not present at all in canada and it is a big country. OSL-ORD is also a ...

Re: Nordic Aviation - 2019

Isn’t for instance ICN within a a 24 hour turnaround? Even with a safe margin? And with that why is more than one aircraft needed? My guess is that they will simply replace the 340:s a.s.a.p and replace them with the 350;s - Thanks for input I read that some speculate that if the oil price is low S...

Re: Nordic Aviation - 2019

My personal wishes if SAS buys some A321LR is that they instead expand the N-America network from CPH towards BOS, YUL or YYZ. Understand they have to meet the other competitors on smaller cities. Just believe that is practically impossible. I believe a better approach is to focus on one hub and ha...

Re: Nordic Aviation - 2019

I don’t Sweden will remove the tax any longer. New government is finally settled and as I understand part of the agreement was to keep the tax. That’s bad. I thought it was going anyway with the new budget. The way aviation tax is used it does not help the environment, but makes people choose other...

Re: Nordic Aviation - 2019

When are the yearly passenger statistics due? Been wondering if CPH finally breaks 30 million, how close OSL comes to it, if KEF might break 10 million and so on. Great to see HEL break 20 million. And of course how high FAE might go, it being the first full year of both RC and SK operations. To an...

Re: Nordic Aviation - 2019

Isn’t for instance ICN within a a 24 hour turnaround? Even with a safe margin? And with that why is more than one aircraft needed? I might be wrong but I don't think it's doable with a single plane. SVO-ICN is around 9 hours so CPH should be around 11. No you are right. I was wrong. Don’t know wher...

Well both are members in star alliance so I am nor so sure. With the exception of LAX isn’t SAS strategy also to go for CPH on N America?
If N America I would find it more likely SAS went for SEA from CPH.
