I never understood why Garuda ordered CRJ1000. Now I understand. It also has its niche, it can fly on routes that don't require the ATR's short-field capabilities, but demand doesn't justify sending a 738. LOL. What the heck? Only a few of them are based out of CGK at any one point so it's not like...Jump to post
I was watching live when the go-around occurred - it was due to spacing. Timestamped YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mvkb_O-r8E&t=19500s https://youtu.be/4mvkb_O-r8E?t=5h26m58s wtf is this thing? It looks like both a 747 and some kind of tri-jet. It's the pointy end of a 747 gett...Jump to post
With the recent merger of Cityjet and Air Nostrum, I suspect that there will be changes afoot; at the very least, WX will be gunning for some of Stobart's feeder service (the current ATR ops). Its about time DUB-EDI, MAN & BHX received all jet service. FR are up to 6 daily at MAN & BHX from...Jump to post

Room for growth with what slots and aircraft?
With a bit of thought and initiative (something AI has never had) they should have had a hub in BOM to rival DEL o They've had that before, and it didn't work for them. DEL came out the winner. The O&D traffic between NYC and MCT will be significantly lower than DXB, DOH & AUH even KWI and BAH, with the latter having no direct US service. Their livery would look great on the 320neo series, it should be an easy order to win for the MAX though. But the longer the MAX problems go on, the more chance Airbus have.
I could see them acquiring newer second hand 738's in the short term though whilst they see how the MAX fiasco plays out.
Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Those would need a fuel stop on the way since no aircraft in the Egyptair fleet has the range to make those flights non-stop. However if they start anything in the USA, it'll most likely be east coast. They have the 77W and 789. Both are more than capable for CAI- We...Jump to post
Using knackered old aircraft can't be helping OS and their margins surely? The 787/330neo Vs the very old 767s and ageing 777s must be night and day in terms of operating cost. It's not like they're doing a BA or UA and fitting them with new high J cabins either. The same could be said to a lesser e...Jump to post
Air Algerie would serve ALG-JFK long before a TUN-JFK. The lack of JFK service to nearby Algiers, a bigger city than Tunis by every metric, shows the lack of non stop demand to that region.
AF, LH & AT and a smattering of other carriers have this market sewn up via their respective hubs.
I believe this is one of two that they are keeping as backup aircraft. No doubt down to the ongoing 787 Engine issue if indeed it is a spare stored off site I’d love to know the logistics of bringing it out of storage especially when it’s stored at an airport with limited flights from any VS base, ...Jump to post
There is more to this I am sure. Air France mentions reasons out of their control. They wouldn't say that if it is just low yields, which i doubt, as it is the only connection to Europe. https://www.airfrance.cm/CM/fr/local/resainfovol/meilleuresoffres/changement-d-horaire.htm Also another flyer po...Jump to post
The point of sale for US-Russia flights I believe is weighted on the Russian side. It's no secret SU offer very cheap connections from the CIS region, eastern and even central Europe via SVO to North America, where again the point of sale is mostly that side or where SU are the only viable one stop ...Jump to post

For FR it would have happened by now, there's a huge market between Ireland and the US. It's been doable for a number of years with their fleet. The fact they didn't counteract Norwegian's Tatl operation from Ireland shows just how interested, or rather uninterested, they are in crossing the Atlanti...Jump to post
I'd be more down with ORD-ARN on UA since AA operated it for years on a 762ER / 763ER. Especially since UA's EWR-ARN is now seasonal on a 757. Whilst STN has plenty of freight capacity I can't see this going anywhere. Manston is limited by it's location, yes it's not far from London as the crow flies. A route that is actually in demand and very profitable (feeds entire Europe + North America) is Mumbai in India. Very high shortage of capacity with Jet's demise. They should launch HEL-BOM instead. The 789 or 359 would be a much better fit on these routes, aside from Hajj and Umrah charters there's nowhere in their network, especially with their current business model, that requires a 77W's capacity.Jump to post
What about the possibility of ANA taking a couple more for high-density domestic flights (like the 747)? Why don't they just get the A380? It would ease the congestion. When they're packing 500+ seats into 777s there's no need. 4 engines for short domestic hops in this day and age of higher fuel prices and more concern for global warming, it would be a huge economic and PR loss. Likewise HND is not A3...Jump to post
Wonder why is BKK the one with the 5th freedom flights and not DMK. W6 I'm concerned for. They couldn't make PRG work, which should almost have been their 'bread and butter' kind of base.
