Icelandair not expecting them to fly again until next year. Dropping PDX for the winter schedule while increasing shorter Europe routes such as DUB, CPH and BRU
Only yesterday the CEO said he expected them back in mid-October.

OK....so I'm flying again and feeling a bit silly. I got an SMS asking for 30 volounteers to check in their carry on bags, I only have a backpack that goes under the seat in front of me. But I'm having concerns if this could mean they are having issues with weight balancing.......

Came to me and talked about various things whenever it was getting a tad bit bumpy. A very nice distraction. They were very understanding about it as well.

Isn't this the safety system within the industry working as it should though? A potential problem identified, addressed and hopefully resolved. With regulators, manufacturer and operators all involved and in the loop.

Nope. Just regular Nordic weather.

They had to go through airport security and passport check at KEF after landing and that has set off a diplomatic incident...

Well the somewhat unthinkable seems to have happened. Icelandair have leased an Airbus! Due to the grounding they have leased several planes and maybe the market for 757/767 has run dry. FAA saying 179 MAX and 133 NG aircraft worldwide have an improperly manufactured leading-edge slat track that need to be replaced quickly. On those particular days there might have been a SIGMET for severe turbulence in that area, or might have been a NOTAM for airspace closure due a military exercise! Airlines don't normally flight plan their planes extra track miles just for the heck of it. Too costly fuel-wise and time-wise. Perhap...

Reading and watching crash reports is not a good idea. I went through a phase where I was watching them and I remember being too aware of anything that was going on while flying. It wasn't to the phobia stage but my normal relaxing feeling while flying wasn't as relaxing. I do like watching turbule...
