For people who are worried about EV's in cold weather, solutions do exist like Tesla's heat pump and these solutions and more should make things more easier. Now whether they should be mandatory or opt-in really depends on markets and people.

Strange, I'm old enough to have lived through the days were VWs were not socially acceptable, followed by the Japanese imports not being socially acceptable. People turned up their noses at both, but eventually price/performance won them over. No reason to think it won't work with Chinese products....
