Re: American Airlines at JFK

Currently, I have no idea how AA domestic does at JFK. However, AA will be working with JetBlue over the next few years to rebuild JFK. Why should AA rebuild domestically? They might as well farm it all out to B6 in the domestic market! The same can be said for LAX, where B6 is bulking up and AS ha...

Re: American Airlines at JFK

Why? Because there's really no precedent for a U.S. network carrier to shrink its way to profitability. Think about farming out domestic flying to two carriers with limited service offerings: AS without t-con lie-flats, and B6 with very few routes seeing F cabins. That AA can't make money in the co...

Re: American Airlines at JFK

Does anyone have an update on AA at JFK. How many flights are going out of there and how are load factors there? It is a big terminal and I really hope AA is at least adding some things back. I will be there for a JFK-CLT flight soon, but I am wondering how it is doing right now. Currently, I have ...

Re: Future of A380 capable gates

With longer frames (such as the 77W) taking over they might be used for boarding the rear doors with some changes. I haven't seen it lately, but we used to have overwing bridges for the 747 door 4. The 744 is also a victim of COVID. Could they be used with any aircraft with 5 sets of doors? Or even...

There’s a lot to lose in completely shutting down and it may well be the final straw if you do

How much does day-to-day maintenance in storage cost an airline like UA,DL,AA? I know this is an enormous expense, but I don't know just how enormous.

Re: Boarding from the Starboard Side

There is an old thread about right-side jetbridges: https://www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=198609 . One thing in the post that was interesting is that, at least on RJs and narrowbodies, doors on the right are narrower or positioned differently from the opposing side. Narrower doors = more s...

Re: Shortest runway airports with regular A380 service

According to the Emirates press release (https://www.emirates.com/media-centre/emirates-to-operate-a380-to-glasgow), EK operated GLA-DXB-GLA with an A380 daily from 4/16/2019 to 9/30/2019. The runway in GLA is only 8,743ft/2,665m and therefore quite significantly shorter than Boston's. An important ...

Re: 767-400ER Door Locations

I don't have any info to help you, but I'm curious if your challenge is in any way related to how the 3L/R doors on the 764 are not full-size doors. Hopefully someone else has more insight. Well, I believe the doors are 24" as opposed to the 42" entryways in positions 1/2/4. They don't me...

Re: Updated: United selects CommutAir as sole E145 operator

Bear in mind that pilots incur huge amounts of debt just to get their practically-minimum-wage salaries at the regionals I started 4 years ago at my regional at no less than $60k a year. As a captain, I make six figures. Hardly minimum wage. I know you're trying to be sympathetic, but don't talk ab...

Re: United potentially moving towards one E145 operator

An old buddy of mine is left seater for Expressjet. When I looked at his Facebook page it was as if he had passed away. Fact is, it's just a job, people. It's also the mortgage payment. And healthcare. Just for starters. 5 years becomes 10 when you lose your house to the bank, etc... Have a modicum...

767-400ER Door Locations

Hi all! New here. I am sure it is user error, but I have been scouring over the Boeing airport planning documents for the 767 and cannot find any data about where the doors 3L/3R are located on the 767-400ER. I'm trying to do an interior drawing of the aircraft and would like to get accurate measure...
