Can the reason possibly be the STAB TRIM cable broke apart? This can create MCAS-like effects.

Given long-term storage complications in humid weather, this can be a reason.

Domestic terminal at SYD is accessible on foot....not sure about the international terminal. So does international. The walk starts from Tempe Recreational Reserve and you will need to cross Alexandra Canal, Qantas Drive, Link Road, a footbridge and you're at the arrivals. It is about a 30 min walk...
