Re: Evacuation Slide Falls from DL Flight

An inflatable evacuation slide fell from a DL flight late yesterday morning on approach to BOS. The flight was reported to be coming from CDG and looks to be DL405, operated by N1607B, a 76W. The pilot reported hearing a loud noise and a local resident said the slide crashed through a tree landing ...

Re: ATL operations

Very fun discussion.
ATL has been using the Papa Loop for quite some time by the way.

Re: DL retiring MD-80s quickly

The day DL retires their MD-80s it will be sad. It was the first airliner I've flown on and serves as one of my earliest airport memories. Back in the early 90s when airport security was lax, and you can walk up to the gate and greet arrivals. A very young me (maybe 3-4 years old), nearly boarded a ...

Just to show (once again!) how idiotic "the press" is: https://gizmodo.com/video-captures-delta-airlines-md-88-engine-failing-mid-1836232799 According to Popular Mechanics, the MD-88 is the “oldest plane in service with any major U.S. airline” and has earned a notorious reputation among p...

Re: Something wrong with Boeing's safety culture

Not to discount the issues, but it's also possible that all this surfaces now due to the MAX issues. It seems all eyes are on Boeing right now, and every single issue gets blown out of proportion (i.e., the media found they needed to add "Miami Air International is a charter airline operating ...

Re: How big can SWA get in ATL

I would be highly intrigued how Delta would react if Southwest reinstates the former Airtran route PNS-ATL. Ticket prices jumped considerably on the ATL-PNS route once Airtran was bought out.

Re: Gulf Coast Thread (MOB, BFM, GPT, PNS, VPS, ECP) - 2019

PNS is slated to receive funding for some more airport upgrades soon. Does anyone know, a possible runway extension is part of the expansion plan? Last time I spoke with the previous airport director, runway 35 is ready-made for a thousand foot extension to the south which would increase the full le...

Re: New Mobile, AL Airport Just Two Months from Open

I can see this new airport functioning similar to how ECP began a few years ago. I can also foresee the terminal building looking similar, small but efficient for its customer base. I think once operations are fully transitioned over from MOB it will realize its full potential. Having lived in Mobil...
