Re: The weirdest sim check scenario?

When we have time left we do a record attempt at doing touch and gos on all runways at Schiphol. I believe I’m at around 2m50sec. That’s no limits or rules so do whatever you want as long as you don’t crash. Now that is something I have to try in my own SIM ;-) I suspect that requires some planning...

Re: Why does the wings center of pressure moves aft with increasing mach number?

At transonic speeds, shockwaves form above and below the wing. These shockwaves increase pressure gradients and "concentrate" the lift towards them. With increasing Mach number, the shockwaves move aft as the aircraft "outruns" them. This means that the CoL also moves aft. This ...

Re: Widebody supersonic airliners

As far as I have understood the issue has more to do with the sonic boom which prohibits SST's to fly faster than the speed of sound in the vicinity of land (or populated area's). So, as long as that is not 'fixed' I don't see any SST flying any time soon . . .

Re: Boeing 777 PIP 2.0 2016

Where all 777-300ER's upgraded with these improvements? Or only the new built ones from a certain date onwards?

Re: GPWS System

I think the pilots flying for Druk Air into Paro fly with GPWS off (or so I've read somewhere) as they fly direct into the mountains to land . . . So, pilots can elect to switch it off when it becomes a nuisance . . .

Re: B744 Global Supertanker - Any avionics modifications?

Ah. So on the flightdeck nothing actually changed then (aside from the firefighting systems)?
I somewhat expected a switch to be added to supress any warnings while flying this low and re-enable them when they fly back to base.

B744 Global Supertanker - Any avionics modifications?

Hi All, [ My first question after reading this forum for the past 10 years ;-) ] Anyway, seeing the Global Supertanker flying so low to the ground in a seemingly normal B744 I thought what changes (if any) were made to the avionics and / or alerting systems. I can imagine that when bringing this air...

Re: Air Traffic Controllers - LiveATC.net

All Dutch airports are on LiveATC. Belgium and French airports are not (as far as I checked). So, not all European countries are on LiveATC, but some are . . . (haven't checked them all)
