Re: Boston Aviation Thread - 2019

Tonight was another mess thanks to lack of available outbound routes. NYC had issues as well. Did anyone grab any shots of the Etihad A380 in town on the divert? I don't think they were all parked at 10-12 but we very well might have had 3 whales at the same time. (Though I missed the HiFly sub so t...

New 9K flights aren't for sale online yet. Curious about them and the Boston to Manhattan seaplane service. I think you are confusing 9X with 9K Southern Airways versus Cape Air. I did find 9X flights PVD-ACK on Orbitz True story! Totally glossed over that minor letter difference! Seaplane service ...

Re: WOW Ceases Operations

The WOW bird left BOS today. TF-DOG went to LCQ, which also got TF-CAT from EWR.

Re: Boston Aviation Thread - 2019

If DL adds nonstop service to Dallas and Houston from BOS, DL would likely add nonstop service to DFW and IAH instead of DAL and HOU. I agree that DL adding BOS-BWI, BOS-CLT, BOS-MIA, BOS-DEN, BOS-PHX, and BOS-SAN nonstop service might happen. BOS-IAH to compete head to head with UA would make more...

Re: LAX moves forward with plans for Terminal 0 and 9

IMO LAX really needs a complete rebuild with less/larger terminals. But I understand that there just isn't the money for it. This, but they killed it when they put the TBIT expansion where it is. They should have built fully to the west with tunnels to get there with a central core around the old t...

Again, BOS-ORD, BOS-DCA, and BOS-EWR are all still loaded in the schedules at their originally announced frequencies, only now they are launching on 9/16 instead of 9/9 (feel free to check the schedules on delta.com yourselves if you don't believe me). These three are new routes starting in Septemb...

Re: Boston Aviation Thread - 2019

KLM starts on Sunday, 3/31! Inaugural KLM service to Boston: - arr. 6.30pm KL 617 Boston (BOS / KBOS) AIRBUS A330-300 KLM - PH-AKA They actually did a water salute and the KLM pilots opened the windows waving the American and Dutch flags to commemorate the inaugural service! I haven't ever seen the...

Re: Boston Aviation Thread - 2019

From the outside of the tower it certainly seems that way. I flew on G-XLEB BOS-LHR the first spring it was here (2017) and I remember being confused as to why we had to wait 15-20 minutes in position on 15R before we started our takeoff roll. Then I thought more about it and (I believe you all had...

Re: Boston Aviation Thread - 2019

Sad to see WW go. I'm curious how long they'll leave the bird in BOS (it is there as of this afternoon). The overnight fees Massport will charge has to incentivize them to move it soon I would think. But who makes those decisions, who would do it (WW crew, repo crew, lessor chartered crew, etc), and...

Re: B6 Situation

I don't think DL needs to buy B6 to have a BOS hub. They are already well on their way to that with the recent build up. Already they call it a focus City, and with them soon gaining all of terminal A they have more room to grow. DL is growing, but still way behind B6 in direct routes from BOS. And...

Re: Boston Aviation Thread - 2019

FYI the BOAC bird is currently scheduled to make a return on sunday. I'm a controller at BOS ATC, and realistically I hope we never see 3 A380s here at the same time, hence my IG handle. The taxiway and runway restrictions of the big bus cause significant interruptions to otherwise routine traffic ...
