Re: What is the future of LGW? What will it mean for the other hubs?

I never got people’s fascination with arguing over which Airport is in London etc. Central London is rammed, you’re never going to get an airport on Oxford Street! As for Gatwick, I’d say it easily has the best train network. You can get direct trains to various parts of Southern England. Heathrow ...

Re: Dreamliner to Thailand from Copenhagen

I wanted to love it. And I have only flown on three examples (two Qatar, one BA) so my opinion is only based on those experiences. I found it cramped. When I flew JNB-DOH I was near the back on a window seat and the combination of the fuselage tapering and the seat in front going straight back meant...

Re: Tag on flight-who still have them

I get that the efficiency of those new aircraft removes the need for a lot of the tag ons. But part of me thinks it could almost inspire new ones for small airlines. For example an airline with one or two long haul planes such as Air Tanzania could do LHR and FRA in one go. I’m only an armchair enth...

Re: Time for a new livery for Korean Air? Or is it timeless?

I haven’t been on A.net long enough to work out all the running jokes and topics that always generate the same tongue in cheek responses. But I don’t see why everyone is against reliverying. Yes, just having Euro White and a swoosh is boring, but airlines need updating. I liked the United swoosh on ...

Re: Tips or Tricks on getting a Window seat?

I always prefer the window seat. If for what ever reason I can’t get it when checking in or whatever, I’ll always ask at the desk just in case. I’d say 9/10 times they usually can. Particularly as the window is the bit I want so I’m happy to take less appealing seats (at the back, near a toilet or a...

Re: Should I dress up for flying on my trip?

Exactly. I’m always clean and I’m not stupid. I’m aware of the country I’m flying to. I normally keep a lightweight pair of running shorts and vest/T-shirt in my hand luggage just in case of emergencies (drink spillage, my locally purchased deodorant not being as powerful as the one I use at home et...

Re: Liverpool John Lennon - potential new international routes?

I’d possibly say a couple of long haul holiday ones could work. Maybe a CUN or a MCO once or twice in the summer. But I Guess it would have to take a payload hit still and then would it be worth the cost of doing all the admin and logistics just for a few flights that are well supplied at MAN? I wou...

Re: Should I dress up for flying on my trip?

Haha reading that phrase ‘low maintenance’ I have to say I take some personal pride in being a low maintenance pax. From wearing my gym vests to heading down to the galley to get my own coke when the crew aren’t walking past. I’d love to fly business or First for the comfort and bed etc, but I’d be ...

Re: Should I dress up for flying on my trip?

I tend to go for a tailored suit every time I fly. I want the flight attendants to know that I'm someone who takes flying very seriously and can help in an emergency. I really hope that’s tongue in cheek 8-) . Now partly the reason I have so much gym kit is because I body build. Of course, I know n...

Re: Should I dress up for flying on my trip?

I'd never fly in shorts or flip flops. As ex-crew I have visions of sliding down a chute or flames in a cabin or near aircraft with exposed skin. You only experience rubber burns wearing shorts on a chute once to never again step on a plane in them. A nice collared shirt and Docker type pants or ni...

Re: Should I dress up for flying on my trip?

I have never flown any thing but Y. However if I ever get the chance to fly business or first etc, I will be wearing exactly the same as I would in economy. I dress depending on the length of flight and with a small eye towards the conditions at my destination. This means if I’m flying long haul to ...

Re: Worst airline corporate culture

My mate is a Ryanair pilot and he does have some good stories. Nothing unsafe or risky or anything like that. Just random moments when he’d say, oh and I had to pay £2.50 for a bottle of water. You’d think the pilot could get one the house...

Re: Norwegian with LHR slots S20?

I have no knowledge of this so apologies if it’s obvious. But can an airline just get slots to rent for money? I.e. Norwegian are getting these slots with no intention of flying them but immediately renting them out to another operator. Is that possible? I feel like the answer is no haha

Re: Sheikh Ahmed: Emirates still denied access to 'many cities'

Emirates is arguing a dead horse. History shows that people will fly direct whenever possible. Once aircraft can tie together any city pair, the need for Dubai disappears. Keywords there being whenever possible. Airlines like Emirates will always exist because there will always be a need for connec...

Re: IAG to buy Air Europa for €1 billion

There are several potential problems with operating Transavia from Madrid to South/Central America. Firstly, Transavia has no longhaul planes in the fleet. So they'd need to go through all the procedures for adding new types, gaining ETOPS approval etc. Secondly, some of the destination countries w...

Re: Future aircraft for LCY

Yeah I’d have to disagree too. I’m an entirely leisure customer that has used LCY multiple times. Much like regular pax don’t really care if their 772 is subbed for a 773 or whatever, I don’t think they’d really care which LON airport they’d take off from within reason. If the price is right and LCY...

Re: Future aircraft for LCY

I can totally see the leisure appeal. If you live in East London and find some cheap flights for City breaks, why head over to Heathrow if you can just take the DLR. If you haven’t used it, it’s a breeze. I’ve done from the plane becoming stationary to the DLR in 13 minutes. And that includes going ...

Thank you very much for you replies. I guess that explains it, particularly the lack of feed, ANA serving DUS/BRU and JAL cutting back the long haul. Just seemed surprising from an casual armchair perspective that DUS was served by ANA over AMS. But hey, they know their routes and markets better tha...

Japan to Amsterdam

Hi all, Long time reader, but first time poster! As I was casually browsing the net looking at where people fly etc, I noticed on Wiki that neither JAL or ANA fly to AMS. Wiki is not always reliable as we know, so I checked on Skyscanner and it does indeed look like neither of them fly to AMS. I’m q...
