Re: The Smell of Airline Cabins

I usually ask for a rum and Coke when I board.

Then - that's all I can smell.

Works for me. :)

Re: Transavia 737 Takes Off With Gear Pin In

Decades ago I was on a United Express CRJ flight on which the plane took off, circled the airport (Washington-Dulles) and landed again. The captain said over the PA that he couldn't retract the landing gear (apparently because it had been locked in place with a pin). The paperwork required took abou...

Re: British Airways a BWI

Why does Baltimore subsidize the flight? With IAD close by it seems like a waste of money. BWI and IAD are only 52 miles apart. And with IAD being a Star Alliance hub, more international carriers wanting to connect to US cities will go there. BWI is a *focus city* for WN. But that doesn't help out ...

Re: New market for the Canary Islands

No. There's zero premium demand and almost no demand full stop at the Canaries PoS. Aside from the beaches and resorts, there's precious little else to do there or anywhere else within a few hours flying distance. Not to mention copius similar, cheaper places half the distance away from both sides ...

Re: TAP starts LIS-IAD with A321LR today

Would love to hear the experience the pax will have upon arrival after 8+ in a single aisle acft. Hope the Doctors let them speak or the hospital provides a PR announcement. But we've been flying that in the beloved single-aisle 757 for 8+ for a generation already ! Not only that, but USA transcons...

Re: DC/VA/MD Aviation Thread - 2019

What's the new airline coming to IAD!? It is some resurrected form of WOW air. And there is some question if this is even an effort that will get off the ground. IAD said it hadn't heard about any new proposed service. So I would not put any stock in it whatsoever. Isn't Cabo Verde Airlines suppose...

Re: Cabo Verde Airlines starting IAD

There is no meaniful Cape Verde diaspora in DC. In the US its located in Massachusetts and Rhode island. I find it hard to believe that the IAD service is being seriously considered by airline management. That may or may not be true. We have 235 Verdiano students here at Montgomery College. My Port...

I am positive there are direct flights. Do you mean nonstop?

Not too long ago, I flew IAD-MIA on a CR-7. But there was only that one fast turn round-trip a day.

As I recall, UA deserted the route in lieu of duplicate service to FLL.

Re: UA Will Now Hold Flights for Connects

The new piece here is the customer outreach portion that helps guide customers to their connecting gate which is currently the biggest downfall when it comes to holding flights. You plan to hold for 10 minutes but then the customers get lost, wander off course, intentionally delay themselves becaus...

Re: Is EgyptAir Leaving Star Alliance?

They began 789 service to Washington-Dulles - a Star Alliance hub - last Tuesday.
Would be surprised if they left the alliance before service to IAD is evaluated.
