Re: SQ to launch SIN-JFK 3x weekly

Sq partners with alaska and jetblue. Potentially connecting jfk-bos I guess If you look at sq load lax-sin, it's horrible in Y - this route is likely for cargo (and as mentioned above, consumer confidence). Sq.com is selling non discounted tickets (sgd$2800 round trip sin-jfk economy , couldn't quot...

Re: Is DL taking delivery of A350’s from NRT to avoid tariffs?

Could someone please explain how an aircraft can no longer be considered eligible for a tariff just because it went through a Japanese port? It still has the proverbial "Made in France by Airbus" sticker on it. Going through a Japanese port has nothing to do with it. These aircraft are no...

Re: UA will close FA bases in NRT, HKG, FRA

As far as airline staffing goes, it is when pilots and flight attendants are responsible for staffing flights out of more than one airport in a metropolitan area. For example an LAX FA’s trips could start out of LAX, SNA, BUR or ONT. In New York LGA, JFK and EWR. In DC DCA, IAD and BWI. I know this...

Doesn't UA and NH have a JV on usa-asia(excluding China)? How would a JV between SQ+NH play out for SIN-TYO-NYC? From my previous post on this: I could be wrong, can someone pull up the travel stats for NYC-TYO city pair? Even with the new HND slots, it was UA adding EWR-HND (772) starting March 20...

Re: Updated: Japan allocates Haneda international slots to 9 nations

NH filed their new HND slots (except for HND-SFO, schedule still pending), and UA filed codeshare on it too (eg NH113 IAH-HND, UA7937 codeshare)

UA filed their new HND slots, but NH hasn't filed codeshares on any of them. (Eg UA881, no NH codeshare)

Any reason why?

It would be fascinating to the know the rational behind having this subfleet's operation being contracted out instead of being handled in-house. Man commerce is complicated. It isn't a subfleet, it is a fleet. It isn't as if Boeing has another dedicated freighter business on the side. The costs of ...

Re: Singapore granted 5th Freedom Tokyo-New York rights

You're saying NH would rather book EWR-NRT passengers on a codeshare with SQ vs a metal-neutral JV flight on UA? That doesn't make sense to me unless the UA flight doesn't provide enough capacity for the route and NH feels they're losing passengers to connecting itineraries on DL, AA, etc. SQ putti...

the large 15.6" screen that I used for NH PE wasn't that hot (when I was using the touchscreen). maybe 720p/1080p?

I've felt worse (heat-wise) IFE in economy on older airplanes.

What strikes me about this occurrence is that there is apparently no back-up system that could (at least) provide some fuel. For awhile you could get PDF schedules online too - most of those are long gone. It's fun to look at the old OAG/ABC timetable editions to relive those days .. :-) AC still produce a PDF timetable.
