What is the standard target FPM landing/touchdown speed of a commerical aircraft? I undestand that this is predicated on a lot of factors, such as runway contamination, winds, etc., but just a ballpark would be great. Thank you!

I agree with SkiBum. I am by no means an expert, but it seems to me that the airliners were being mismanaged and were not economically viable through the 1990's. As such it would seem that the events and aftermath of the September 11 attacks only sped up the inevitable.
