Incorrect. The plane that made it had a third crew member in the cokpit that had no workload.

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q3 2019

The rule of thumb about runaway trim that I grew up with, is if it moves and you didn't command it and you're hand-flying it, the first place you go is the red guarded switches and you never reset them. Aren't the trim wheels spinning on their own quite frequently thanks to STS? I don't think your ...

For the VW scandal, the fix was also easy - software and/or parts, depending on the model. The buy-backs were optional for owners - owners could either have the fix made or have their car bought back by VW. False. The only car that was fixable was the Passat. I know, I had to sell back my Jetta for...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q3 2019

Sure, Boeing brought the spotlight upon themselves, but I get the impression that the the FAA is in CYA mode and scrutinizing everything to the n-th degree. How would they even test/simulate that the Ti shielding on the rudder cables can withstand the impact of a HP turbine that has let go? Do some...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q3 2019

MCAS will not prevent stall, one can still stall the plane with active MCAS. But MCAS will help/assist and prevent the crew from pulling the plane into a stall. So MCAS does play a role in preventing stall (under certain flight conditions). Does that make it a stall prevention system? It's a fine l...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q3 2019

It appears that the myth that MCAS is a stall prevention system persists. It was not a stall prevention system in MCAS 0.0 and 1.0, and will not be a stall prevention system in MCAS 2.0. MCAS is there to provide proper stick forces when the situation -- and the certification requirements -- require...

I really wonder why people get so angry about outsourcing. Our company does it, we outsourced the cleaning, the accounting and the hosting. Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q2 2019

I would agree that the AOA DISAGREE is not that important in the NG and previous models. They do not have any automation relying solely on AOA data. The MAX however had MCAS which had unlimited authority over the stab trim based only on AOA data. This is a completely different situation. Agree comp...

It has nothing to do with getting away with, as every change Boeing initiates is validated through FAA. This is just part of every day life and continous improvements. Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q2 2019

There are no situations where the AOA DISAGREE amber alert is crucial even if you have purchased the optional AOA indicator (which the majority of airlines haven't). When you go to the NNC there are no procedures to follow, it just advises you that you may have an IAS DISAGREE and /or an ALT DISAGR...
