Re: Delta transitions BOS to Hub status, names SJC, BNA, and AUS as new focus cities

I've also noticed that DL is starting to offer connections through BNA on their website. Doesn't really mean much (they've connected between hubs at MCI for years) but noticed this seemed new since the announcement FWIW, BNA has come up as a connection on DL.com for years on my end. To that extent,...

Re: Delta transitions BOS to Hub status, names SJC, BNA, and AUS as new focus cities

Good point about business travelers. I think another point we should look at is that not all business travelers are international. Some, yes. But isn’t there significant *domestic* business travel that is a potential for non stop flights to SJC? As for WN and AS and corporate business, I don’t doub...

Re: Delta transitions BOS to Hub status, names SJC, BNA, and AUS as new focus cities

Sometimes, I get the impression you have it in for SJC ;) DL obviously sees some kind of potential there, perhaps the same thing that WN and AS see, perhaps a different segment of the market. Maybe it is DL frequent flyers in the South Bay, maybe it’s trying to take some of the passengers from SFO,...

Re: Delta transitions BOS to Hub status, names SJC, BNA, and AUS as new focus cities

But the future demographics of AUS, SJC, and BNA are much more promising than those of MSY or TPA, don't you agree? Grow where growth is. There is a serious problem with that type of thinking because that's where everyone is going. It's funny that DL makes all of their money in places that are not ...

Re: Delta transitions BOS to Hub status, names SJC, BNA, and AUS as new focus cities

A quick thought... The criteria DL has described for how they have selceted their focus cities makes sense, however the cities they have chosen (actually not chosen) doesn't. AUS, BNA, and SJC all three make sense per the critieria but there are other cities that meet this criteria which have not b...

Re: AA Increasing Mainline Service From ORD

ORD serves soo many tiny destinations that it is impossible to not have a high % of RJs So does ATL and DFW yet, both have more mainline than RJs. Apples to oranges comparison, DL ATL and AA DFW are much larger hubs than AA or UA at ORD so of course they have more mainline. In addition ATL doesn't ...

Re: AA Increasing Mainline Service From ORD

Not really sure why both UA and AA have such high % of regional jets at ORD. I feel if one of them were to upgauge the majority of their ORD flights to mainline, they'd gain a significant advantage over the other. ORD serves soo many tiny destinations that it is impossible to not have a high % of R...

Re: AA Expanding DFW, LAX?

When you say "notable gaps," these make sense:

DFW-EUG, DFW-MFR, and DFW-RDM are not "notable gaps"

Re: Delta transitions BOS to Hub status, names SJC, BNA, and AUS as new focus cities

Hey guys, new poster here, but I saw an article that seems prettty applicable to this discussion, seems like Flightglobal has been reading this thread https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/analysis-what-makes-a-focus-city-for-delta-458775/ "ANALYSIS: What makes a focus city for Delta?"...
