With the curve in the "runway" that great I'm surprised it hasn't happened many times before

Re: Transatlantic flights between US and UK in the Post Covid-19

Like every other thread on post-covid operations, it is and will continue to be completely unknown to even the commercial teams and route developers at the airlines. Until there is control of the virus (self-discipline, vaccine) or that it accepted into life, we will see barriers placed by both gove...

Re: Norwegian Air Cancels Orders For 92 737 MAXs and 5 787s

I don't know. I see several posters argue DY should cancel their Airbus orders too, and also drop their 787 fleet. But is their long haul business with 787s really bad? Not so sure it cannot work. Norwegian never made a profit on the long haul flights, so the 787 business is really bad. The key que...

Re: VietJet's A321 skids off runway in SGN

The chance of death of a passenger is far far greater in an uncontrolled environment such as an airfield in heavy rain, slippery surfaces, and passengers in a panic than in the controlled environment of an aircraft with no engines running, someone in control, less panicked, non- dangerous environmen...

Re: VietJet's A321 skids off runway in SGN

What's Airbus' SOP for a runway overrun/incident like this? Looks like the evacuation slides have not been deployed, but the flaps and spoilers are still extended? I know for the B737, the flaps are fully extended to assist pax egress from the overwing emergency exits (should an emergency evacuatio...

Re: Shuttle plane

Cost... A330-200 costs approx $9000 USD per hour and can hold say 16 cars (23 pallets...pallet is 300cm, the average car is 440cm). You want to fly your car from London - Malaga (2.5 hours) and back...so that's about $2800 per car, per return flight. I'm guessing you can get cheaper car rentals in M...

Re: Jet2 to the rescue?

They literally aren’t though, that’s the thing. You can’t argue with facts. They aren’t laying on anything extra than what is already scheduled.....But let’s not let facts get in the way of a good story. They literally are .... leaving this here and walking away. Re: Jet2 to the rescue?

Totally understand. My point is that BA and DY are laying on extra aircraft for the exact same reason as Jet2, they just don't issue a press release over it so sadly go unnoticed.

Re: Jet2 to the rescue?

I get what you are saying but I think you are mistaken. Jet2 are, out of the goodness of their hearts, putting the flights in the booking system, and "allowing" the general public (their passengers, other passengers, strangers etc etc) to pay for a ticket on those flights where there are s...

Re: DY about to go bust?

but it's not like they are getting killed on the short haul stuff as some other airlines are. Do you have any evidence of that ? There is no way Norwegian is unaffected by this. It's system-wide in all of Europe. They will not be unaffected, but if you look at their presence in Northern Italy, whic...

Re: Norwegian air emergency landing (Again!?) DY7077 20:00

DY7077 Rome to San Francisco made an emergency landing in Iceland Reykjavik ...Boeing 787-9 (2years old ). Is this airline safe or not enamored they probably have more than 10 real emergencies in 2019 which is huge number. Now airborne again so likely a medical diversion. Would you kindly show your...
