Why does Delta have such a weak intl presence?

Compared to UA and AA, which fly or will fly to numerous exotic destinations, Delta seems to have a lack of international presence outside of their partner hubs. They have skipped out on serving cities like HKG, DEL, TPE, and AKL, in favor of KLM, Korean, and Virgin metal. Why is it that AA and UA a...

This year saw it on YUL-YVR and YVR-DUB. (Both in the SQ configured aircraft, no J class). Next year, on top of that, I believe Paris will be on the A333.

No, it didn't. It was (an impressive) 10.6% to get them to 35K passengers. MIA meanwhile grew at 2.2% to get to 45K passengers. However, FLL numbers are DOWN this year with the runway closure, BA's departure, among other things while MIA continues to grow. https://www.broward.org/Airport/Business/a...

Well Delta already flies MSP-YYC so I would think WS would add DTW just like it did ATL. Would give WS connections to places in the east that aren't linked via MSP.

Good idea, except ATL is a much better and larger hub.

With the LATAM coup, will AA regress back to 19 RJ’s a day and DL go to 350 flights out of MIA? One can only dream! Or have a bad nightmare! It would cost how many billions and maybe bankrupt both AA and DL. Some US hubs I see as practically invulnerable - MIA, ATL, CLT, DFW, SFO, MSP, DTW, EWR. In...

What route does DL fly that is 8800 miles? UAs IAH-SYD and SFO-SIN are longer flights than ATL-JNB. I don't think UA (or for that matter DL) need the 777-8 but curious why you believe is would be a better fit at DL than at UA? Both seem to be sold on the A350 which of course can, at the ULR weight,...

It used to be 2x AA, 2x BA (77W, 772, B747, A380) until last winter when it became 1x AA, 3xBA (77W, B747, B747, A380). AFAIK, VS has always been 1x @ MIA and DY recently shifted their flight over to MIA. It’s a OW downgrade in capacity for sure but not in frequency. Got it. Thanks for clarifying! ...

Aside from the new LAX/EWR-HND flights, UA hasn't added a new TPAC route since SFO-SIN in 2016. IAD/ORD-HND were switched from NRT, and the second SFO-SIN flight replaced the LAX flight. Meanwhile, they have downgauged multiple routes such as IAD-PEK (from 772 to 788), ORD-NRT/PEK/PVG (744 to 772) a...
