Didn't Arnold Schwarzenegger fly them down on an 11 hour trip to Val Verde in 1985?

Ha yes he did! Not sure how many here got the reference but that was my favorite part of the movie. :)

Don't they though? EWR is always cheaper to fly from than JFK when I look for flights.

The OP mentions EWR having $25 higher average domestic fares than JFK. Since this is on average, it doesn’t apply to every flight so it might not come up in your searches.

Re: Why did UA have a monopoly at EWR?

From a marketing stance, "New York JFK" sounds a lot more glamorous and appealing to passengers. By that reasoning, EWR would have a lower average fare. Does that mean the name of EWR vs. JFK isn’t that consequential or is there something else that more than makes up for the lack of “JFK”...

I always thought it was because USAir sounded more regional while US Airways sounded more global, and they wanted the change to fit their route expansion.

Re: Civil Aviation Humor....True Story

With 33 years seniority, the resourceful FA found a way to get back at him. She knew where his carry-on bag was in the overhead, and got a baggage tag from the locker....and routed his bag through Honolulu !! (She just set it at the Jetway door & the groundcrew took it right away) When the plan...

Re: Why Is DL More Profitable Than UA and AA?

I believe DL has a lot less exposure to LCCs and ULCCs (amplified after WN bought AirTran and then sold all the 717s to DL, allowing them to become even bigger while shrinking their biggest ATL competitor). ATL is also one of the lowest cost megahubs with among the lowest cost-per-enplanements. The ...

Re: United Fleet, Network, & Livery Thread - 2020

787-10 info update I’m confused about the 787-9 and 787-10 updates. Are these firm orders and if not why is there this level of detail on future deliveries? If they’re firm orders wouldn’t Boeing and UA want some kind of press release out about them? Seems Boeing especially would given their troubl...

Re: United Fleet, Network, & Livery Thread - 2020

These aircraft will have nose to tail AVOD and PDE. They’ll be installing personal video screens at each economy seat? Would be great to see and an interesting reversal of the “PDE only” philosophy that has been in effect the last few years. Hopefully this will extend to the other domestic deliveri...

Brett Snyder’s take on it, reflecting the lack of clarity on how many new gates DEN will end up with and where all airlines will end up moving.

that's a big difference vs. 48/50on the 772.

Wouldn’t they only be swapped with the non-reconfigured 787-8s? Still a drop of 8 J seats, though the premium economy seats would soften the blow a bit. Either way, I wonder when they’ll start capping J sales to 28.

Re: UA to Potentially Gain 24 of 39 New DEN Gates

if UA gets all of the A gates and WN gets all of the C gates there are no gates left for anyone else. The 2 main airlines that want additional gates and Frontier and Spirit. Frontier would like to have 12-15 gates total(currently have 9) and Spirit only wants 1 or 2 more. It will be interesting to ...

Re: UA to Potentially Gain 24 of 39 New DEN Gates

WN is reportedly lobbying for the 16 new gates at Terminal C; it doesn't appear as though UA's request for the new gates at A & B would have too much of an impact on WN's request at DEN. I was wondering how the article determines which gates are new and which existing gates are included in the ...

https://thepointsguy.com/news/united-airlines-plans-more-gates-new-clubs-at-growing-denver-hub/ This is touched on in the general UA and DEN threads, but this news could merit its own discussion where more people will see it. With airlines working to gain as many new gates as possible in DEN, city c...

What kind of timeframe is expected for this to live through the courts? There might end up being an appeal from either side, depending on how the initial ruling comes down.

UA Adds Seventh European Destination From SFO

https://thepointsguy.com/news/united-no ... m-sfo-dub/ With the recent announcement of SFO-DUB, United will serve seven European cities from their west coast powerhouse (in addition to LHR, FRA, MUC, CDG, ZRH, AMS). With DOT considering TLV and DEL as TATL, it’s even more impressive to consider nine...
