The Friedrichshafen flight seems very odd. Few airlines go there I think, and it's not the most accessible place. It'll be good for me going from Schaffhausen, but I think it's a lot easier to get to Zurich if you don't have a car.

I know the York-Kings Cross one stops at Doncaster and Peterborough. But this is only for about five minutes. There is a longer service, which I think makes four or five stops. The most it should add onto your journey is about 15 minutes.
