Is it just me or are these ground collisions getting more frequent? There seems to be a lack of training or careless with these events. Do the two teams brief the plan beforehand and does anyone try to stop the process when he/she sees something amiss? It seems that many unqualified have been hired...

Quite the opposite actually
The market concentration has a specific cause: CGH.
No airline excels in Brazil in the long run without considerable slot holdings at CGH.
There's no way the Feds were not watching him before the raid was carried out. Could they not have had the FAA put some kind of ground stop on his aircraft. The US does have an extradition treaty with Antigua. Maybe he's trying to get to Brazil. ...but the US also has an extradition treaty with Bra...

Won't happen. The A380 is difficult to fill in the winter and the economics are not that good that LH will jump to the 2nd-hand market. But what are the options of the owners of the parked A380 but to offer the frames for reasonable lease rates or sale prices, so that the bad economics of the frame...
Jump to postThat's what is happening. LH willbring back all of the eight frmaes they still own by summer 2025. Yes, but it is happening slowly and I meant rather returning to the original fleet size and be...
Jump to postThe timid fleet renewal of Lufthansa in the 2010s, followed by the pandemic in 2020 and finally now the issues with Boeing, which most certainly affect the the the 777X series even further, seem to have now created a perfect storm for the airline, which seems to be walking into the second half of th...
Jump to postI don’t get it. Why can’t Frontier succeed at JFK with flights catering to a more leisure-oriented public?
United wasn’t seeking that public at JFK, which explains their difficulty, but that does not need to be issue for F9 as the market is significant.
Brazil and Argentina signed Open Skies Agreement. Today there are 163 flights/week between the two countries, almost 170 in former agreement. Brazil had been ask for revision of Air Traffic Agreement by years, but Argentina didn't accept as a way to protect the Aerolíneas Argentinas. Link (portugue...
Jump to postSuch an acquisition would only be approved, if they pump Voepass with capital, aircraft, pilots and slots at CGH, GRU and SDU, so that the combined entity does not surpass 40% market share at any of the slot-controlled airports. AA is going on preemptive strike, trying to reduce the strength of IAH-GIG; . Wait, what???? There is literally nothing AA could do to reduce the strength of IAH-GIG unless they launch IAH-GIG themselves or convince Bechtel and Petrobras and many others to relocate from Houston to DFW. GIG is a VER...

Jump to postThe disagreement concerns your comment that DL did not apply for a gateway shift. However, carte blanche to change ports (sensibly denied by DOT) is gateway shifting They did not. Jump to postExcept you can't shift HND slots as DL found out with the PDX flight. So if UA pitches for GUM now I'd say it's extremely unlikely DOT would also give them HND-IAH. Jump to postMust a slot be used for its applied destination? Eg, UA is awarded the nighttime slot for GUM, can they switch GUM and LAX 6 months down the track hypothetically? It's a bit different than DL and PDX. I believe UA will have to return the slot and rebid if they want to switch GUM to LAX in the futur...

Hawaiian Airlines have just filed a notice to the DOT informing that they will return all 7 weekly nighttime frequencies allocated for HNL/KOA-HND service:

I guess that nothing will now stop United from obtaining them to launch GUM-HND.

Jump to postUnited never had a competitor with deep pockets that would be interested in the “Air Mike” network.
After the AS-HA merger comes through, it would make sense to explore the sale of that network, which is far from the main focus of United, but would be highly complementary for HA.
Being employee-owned is what brought about the downfall of VARIG.
Jump to postAA pretty clearly says the route primary purpose is to connect the two global metro areas which are the commercial/financial hubs of respective nations. Jump to postAs LAOCA posted above, that's not exactly what DL said may have said based on the post (see end of paragraph). IIRC DL said the slot will go to UA or AA, not that DL wouldn't apply.
