Re: SoCal Boneyard Storage and Activity Thread

does anyone know what reason that SW is sending those 737's to VCV? Read awhile back they're now planning on retiring their oldest 737-700's and/ or frames due for heavy checks with their Max 8's on a one for one basis. WN already owns 34 Max 8's and Lord knows how many Boeing has in storage ready ...

Re: SoCal Boneyard Storage and Activity Thread

What is the closest airport to VCV that most of the U.S airlines could put a aircraft into revenue service instead of racking up non revenue cycles/hours? Seems wasteful to deadhead a aircraft when you could plop it into scheduled service & earn revenue getting the aircraft to its regular base....

That's a good insight. Generally - but not uniformly - it's the older -700s they've parked. How many Max's does WN have stored at VCV ?/ was it 34? I agree with other posters once RTS is granted, those Max's WN already owns will return to service and replace those older, recently stored 73G's on a ...

As I understand it, the ones that have been parked were chosen because they're due expensive C or D checks soon. N700GS had a heavy check last summer (was in MIA for 5 or 6 weeks, so I think it was a D check, but I'm not sure.)
