The only place a second airport could even remotely be viable would be if it was near the wealthy northern suburbs (Cumming, Alpharetta, Milton, Cherokee,etc) because the drive to ATL can be very long with traffic and other road delays.

I have to admit I do not know a lot about Charlotte although the one time I visited it seemed like a nice city. But what major companies are based there and does it have any major research universities? They have a decently large corporate presence (Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Truist, Nucor, Ally...

When it comes to AA mainline service at LAX, I would honestly be surprised if it makes sense to keep stuff like LAX-ATL/BDL/CMH/IND/MEM/MSY/RDU/SDF. I should imagine a lot of that capacity was connecting onwards to places like Asia, Australia and Hawaii, and whatever local demand did/does/will exis...

This marketwatch article says UA is losing 100 million per day which would be quite a bit more than DL is losing per day.

I actually think Asiana has a better chance to make it out in good shape than Korean. They were recently bought by Hyundai Development so they have a parent with quite a bit of cash on hand.
