Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019, Production suspended

It’s also good to note that a 737 pilot does NOT need to know about MCAS, it’s irrelevant because it does not change anything. It doesn’t have a hidden kill switch, or a hidden procedure. A 737 pilot has never needed to know why or what was pushing his aircraft down, the only thing they need to kno...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019, Production suspended

Mea culpa, you are correct. However you used the description "normal conditions", without sufficient qualification. Undoubtedly you knew what you meant, but to others it suggests everything was normal. Maybe that was accidental, but these MAX threads are full of such ambiguous comments, a...

Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019, Production suspended

MCAS operates off the AoA. So no. It would not show that everything is “okay” you would have faulty airspeed/altitude and trim would be running unwanted. This is assuming the computer is taking data from one sensor at a time. If there is no unreliable airspeed or altitude nor trim issues, then ever...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019, Production suspended

Temporarily suspended because they’re running out of room to put them. Boeing has already announced whats taking so long. They’re testing this new system for up to 1,500 hours. 800+ flights. And it’ll have three layers of protection. You can even see these test flights on Flight radar. Sent from my...

Do any of those examples include a) a heavy fuel load b) a heavy passenger load (or indeed any pax at all) I never suggested any kind of fuel load or payload you did. You brought it up, Mea culpa, you are correct. However you used the description "normal conditions", without sufficient qu...

Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019, Production suspended

The recent announcements about the MAX are really concerning. I have been convinced in the last couple of months that the MAX is unlikely to be certified again. That’s sad news indeed. Temporarily suspended because they’re running out of room to put them. Boeing has already announced whats taking s...

New article in the NYT, doesn't look rather bright at all. Software package not delivered yet? And even more messages which will have much more bad news? https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/22/business/boeing-dennis-muilenburg-737-max.html?action=click&module=Top Stories&pgtype=Homepage In his ...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019, Production suspended

Fine. It was an overly strict requirement from the FAA that made MCAS come about. I’m 100% sure it could have flown without it, and would be flying today with 0 accidents. The only certification test that a nose up appeared, was the stick force per-g. It consists of the pilot banking the plane, and ...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019, Production suspended

The groundings are political at this point. The fix to MCAS has been done since the summer. It’s just the FAA trying to act like they’re doing something useful. Boeing is now suspending the program, they don’t have to pay employees if they’re laid off, and now the government will. And who will the g...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019

Dude it’s 2019, about to be 2020. Prelims are already starting to show the full picture. And that goes for both accidents in this case as well. That info isn’t going to get washed away, it’ll only become more clear.

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019

But you can’t fly the plane outside of the envelope with increasing nose down trim. You mention two factors here, flying outside of the envelope and the increasing nose down trim one of which was, in theory in the pilots control the other is imposed by the aircraft in the form of MCAS but you still...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019

Vmo is just a (large) safety margin to Vd. See the Boeing Flight Envelope Definition https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/6544179/Boeing-Presentation-to-FAA-Dec-17-2018-MCAS.pdf page 15 (PDF page 17). The design parameter should be that the pitch is controllable up to Vd. ET302 overspeed was ...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019

You put either accident crew in UA232 position, guess what? Everyone is dead. Gone. You put the [UA232] pilots in JT610 position. Landed. You put the pilots of UA232 in ET302 position, landed. Fact. This is only 3 consecutive speculations, not facts at all. The fact is that no aircraft safe...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019

I believe it’s a business tactic pure and simple. The military doesn’t care how much they spend in the end. Airlines do. Airlines didn’t buy the second sensor although they had a choice to, for a reason. And Boeing knew it wouldn’t go over well with them, as shown, because in the end they didn’t pu...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019

AoA disagree was supposed to be standard warning, AoA indicator was a premium feature. Due to programming error, AoA disagree didn't work as designed without a premium feature purchased. Loss of control over design at its best.[/quote] The AoA disagree would have done nothing. The crew had every sym...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019

Hoping and Relying on the ECAA won’t do much. Just look what those goons did with EgyptAir 990. Are we really expecting them to come up with an actual conclusion? They’re probably looking for dirt on Boeing far more than investigating the accident. There’s a reason why Lion Air rushed to the famili...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q4 2019

Yet MCAS on the MAX was triggered by just one of the jet’s two angle-of-attack sensors, whereas MCAS on the 767 tanker compared signals from both sensors on the plane. When asked after the second crash to explain why the airliner version lacked this same redundancy, Boeing’s response was that the ar...
