Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2020

I've heard there's no longer an AA agent at the Airspace Lounge. Does anyone know if this is a permanent change or is it something that'll be brought back as AA brings up their non-hub lounge network?

Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2020

AFAIK, Asia is not in that situation so I think JL returning to SAN is simply up to the carrier to decide. Hopefully they will stick with their Nov 1 decision. FWIW JL's filing is from before COVID and they've only been amending schedules for each calendar month ~3-4 weeks ahead of time. There's be...

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator coming to PC and Xbox

I've been able to improve flying visually by putting together a TrackIR-like implementation. With a little configuration, it's made things quite a bit easier. One can obviously shell out for TrackIR, but there also exists solutions that either use webcams or the TrueDepth camera on recent iOS device...

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator coming to PC and Xbox

I was able to jerry rig a TrackIR implementation using my iPhone and opentrack. Having something like this has improved the game a ton for me. Next up would probably be upgrading my PC.

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator coming to PC and Xbox

I believe real liveries are coming, but have not heard of any mention of livery and aircraft matching with live traffic.

Re: US Airline Booking Trends during COVID-19

The problem I see is that people are being encouraged to be tested. With more testing comes more positive numbers albeit many don't even know they have the virus. Higher numbers means more lockdowns, quarantines and travel restriction. Good luck getting the panic porn media to point out that while ...

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator coming to PC and Xbox

I appreciate your response, thank you. I'll give it a go and see how it works out. I'd be interested to hear what kind of price point you think a PC should be in order for the sim to play well? I'm so deep in the Apple ecosystem that this is a brave new world indeed! It really depends on what kind ...

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator coming to PC and Xbox

Anyone good at translating system equivalency between PC and Mac? I'm running a Mac Mini with Windows 10 through Bootcamp. I'm trying to learn where my system fits with the requirements. These are my specs: Mac Mini (2018) Processor: 3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5 Memory: 8 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 Graphics: I...

Re: US Airline Booking Trends during COVID-19

With Sept. loaded, it looks like schedules are slightly up from August as a % compared to last year. See: https://crankyflier.com/2020/08/03/american-and-united-load-september-schedules-more-cuts-for-everyone/ Of course, there could be more cuts as we get closer to September. Still, if the schedule ...

Re: AA 737’s still in bare metal scheme

A couple weeks ago in STT I saw an AA 738 take off that was still in the polished aluminum paint scheme. I didn’t realize there were still some left not painted in the current paint scheme. Was this a special heritage plane or are there more than one polished aluminum AA 737 still flying? Also - if...

Re: American Airlines Network Thread - 2020

I hope either AA or AS will serve LAX-SAN in the future, as it does provide much easier access to all the int'l OW flights in LAX.

Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2020

It looks like AA has removed SAN-LAX entirely except for the month of September (maybe they missed it?) with the latest schedule update.

Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2020

Im curious to know which flights are coming in internationally into San Diego? I'm still seeing JAL as the only long-haul destination still active. It is also bookable as I'm looking for flights to return to San Diego from South Korea. AFAIK JL operates the only nonstop TPAC flight to SAN. There mi...

Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2020

About an hour after I posted this, I saw the JL flight from NRT pass overhead. I don't know what the yields are like due to the coronavirus. I took that flight a couple weeks ago. Load factor was about 50% on the way to NRT, but I don't know what it was like on the return since I flew another airli...
