B757: Nothing really new here. There is a subset of the oldest 752s that have been through their last and final HMV and will be retired in the next 2-4 years. Beyond that, yes the number of ~50 B752 and the 753s are of a younger generation and could extend into the 2030s if economic conditions make...Jump to post
I know the 747 production line is being closed and no airline is able to order more. I'm just curious about this feature and its practical significance and prevalence in day-to-day cargo operations around the World. That's not entirely true. The 747-8i (passenger) line has closed, however the 747-8...Jump to post

Afaik, I think that N805SJ is painted in the normal colors and has engines, so, not holding my breath, it could realistically have a chance of coming back. https://cdn.planespotters.net/30289/n805sj-skybus-jet-cargo-douglas-dc-8-73f_PlanespottersNet_1164303_7b85a04753_o.jpg And I'm kinda surprised t...Jump to post

First question: Did they eat chicken or fish? Shirley (surely) you can't be serious?! Jokes aside, I think that what the OP outlined seemed pretty reasonable. However, what if there is no doctor on board? In that case I would assume that the FAs would try to help by doing CPR. (Any FAs/pilots...Jump to post
When was the exact last date that the Saudi 747-300 flew? I thought it was retired and replaced by the 77W? No? Nov 2019 it was spotted flying over Cardiff, Wales. Then using this information, I don't think it really should be considered on the "active" list anymore... That's from 2 years...Jump to post

One thing I noticed, compared to other water crashes like Swissair 111, Silkair 185, and Egyptair 990, this plane seemed relatively intact. Probably because it didn't enter the water at high speeds and obliterate into pieces. But still, how come the wreckage removal took basically from the beginning...Jump to post

Who else remembers when that MD-10 extended its gear really really late?
Just to bring in the latest update on this sad story: https://nypost.com/2021/10/24/body-of-united-airlines-executive-jacob-cefolia-found/ Sadly Mr. Cefolia's remains were found in the forest preserve where his car had been left, and it appears to be self-inflicted. How sad... :( So, any ideas of a...Jump to post
I’m hearing that prices are upwards of 7 figures ton bring time sensitive high dollar shipments from Asia. We are going to start to seeing aircraft dragged out of places normally long forgotten. I have to think the once ubiquitous B737-200 is one such example, literally down to single-digit numbers anywhere in the world Personally, I'd replace the 737-200 with the 737-500 (and maybe even the whole of the 737 classic series) because aside from the 737-400Fs (which might actually increase in...Jump to post

Ok, before everyone attacks me for this, it was my dad who brought this up and agreed with it. I personally disagree with his opinion, but while the both of us were sitting and watching Smithsonian channel Air Disasters, he out of the blue was like "Why can't they have one AI and one human in t...Jump to post
Could the aircraft have been overloaded? Though maybe not, since it is likely the takeoff was rejected. So maybe some sudden brake/reverse thrust failure or the engine(s) were somehow stuck on full power. Or, more likely, the pilots were too late in aborting the takeoff because they had already reac...Jump to post

DL/AS - yes they are not friends but makes the most sense for both Just asking, for what reasons will this work? I'm only asking, not trying to conjecture against your argument or whatever. I wish the 747-8 was more of a success, but I clearly understand why the -8i variant in particular was a flop.
Some people were mentioning Emirates and the pax variant, but I think that they had about 10 -8Fs on order, cancelling 5 of them, and then cancelling the remaining 5 in late 2012.

I think my teacher in my aerospace class at school told us this story. According to what he said, the pilots didn't even do their checklists correctly (didn't do Controls: Free Movement). He also said he lost a good friend in this accident.
May all who died in this accident rest in peace.
How come no one mentioned the song on Youtube "You can always go around"?

I think that most of the problems involving bad behavior from people on here stems from the Non-Av section. When did Boeing destroy the tooling for the 717? Replace the "1" with a "5" and the replies for this thread will double... :rotfl: Anyways, back to a meaningful reply, I think that the decision to end 717 production probably led them to scrapping the tooling within at least 1-2 ...Jump to post
