Legend pilot. Hope he continues to fly higher with beautiful skies and strong tailwinds. I remember as a kid being so inspired by the story of BA009. Many lessons regarding CRM can be taken from that incident.

There's been similar cases of people sneaking on to flights without boarding passes, but that dude's something else. Very smart, although immoral and incorrect, to take pictures of other boarding passes.

The CAAC pointed out that the case is "very complicated and rare..." Wonder what that could mean... Considering they ruled out many factors such as weather, technical malfunction, maintenance error, and pilot error.

Not to stir any hype or anything, but didn't a faulty servo valve in the PCU reacting to cold temperatures cause the 737 rudder hardovers of the 1990s? I thought a failsafe mechanism was developed, so it is a little weird to see a similar problem.

Kind of off topic, but back in 2000-2004, Atlantic coast airlines operated DO-328JETs on behalf of delta connection. It would be interesting to see, but if ever it happens, I don’t think it would be mainline DL flying them.

DXB-BOG non stop is similar in length to ATL-JNB. If they weren't short on 77Ls I would have thought they could make it non stop. Seems like it is a fifth freedom flight between MIA-BOG, so they must see some lucrative moeny there. Wonder how AA will sit with that.

The 757s they retired in the pandemic had PW engines unlike the rest of their fleet which had the RR engines. I don’t think it is likely they will bring back that sub fleet in the wake of the 737 MAX 10 rumblings.
