We have seen cargo operators dragging aircraft stored for years even some scavenged for parts be pressed into service. There are the ex DL 744. The newest ones delivered 99-02 were parked between 14-16. The newest have 5k cycles 52k hours. Why haven’t these been sold to cargo operated or an airline...

DL flew Atlanta-Kuwait City in around 2008-2010 but I have heard it was extremely short lived. I may have also heard that only certain people were allowed to go on this flight, though I am not sure of that. Someone more educated can probably inform you more about this route.

Even just 10-15 years ago, it would have been heck easier to find a 727 where you live. All the big freight carriers had them (Fedex, DHL, Amerijet, and others) as well as being in charter service. Now, the only one's you'll see frequently are the OSR ones and some freighters in Latin/South America....

What if flying cars would need as much maintenance as say a sports plane like the Icon A5? Then everyone who says they'll buy it when it comes out would be upset when they have to spend way more at their next appointment to replace their brake fluid or something.

Aircraft surprisingly get hit by lightning a lot!! Judging from that video, it hit the middle of the wing, so I don't know if there has to be any inspections or anything. Boeing has not 'always' done myriad versions of their types. A big example is the 757/767. Both of these had no major changes, say for FMC changes on the 757 later in production life and cabin changes. I believe somethings were changed on the 767Fs that are being produced right now, but I don't know...
