Re: Will any McDonnell Douglas planes still be flying in the 2030s

Mcdonnell Douglas planes are tanks. They have a long lives ahead of them. Easily, the MD-11Fs, DC-10 tankers, and a handful (maybe 30-40) MD-80s'll remain. Obviously, the DC-8 and DC-9'll continue in small amounts in places where their performance is absolutely crucial and unmatched. I do have one (...

Re: Will any McDonnell Douglas planes still be flying in the 2030s

Don't forget the DC8 Freighters!! Right now, OB-2059-P and OB-2158-T, both operated by Peruvian carrier Skybus Jet Cargo, are flying daily routes out of Miami to Central America and the Caribbean Islands, operating with a capacity and reliability that puts lesser (and younger) aircraft to shame. Th...

Boeing 757: Who's have you flown?

Since we already had topics on the 737, 747, and 767 for this, why not start one up for A.net's favorite plane, the 757! Sadly, I've only flown on 2 airline's 757s, but come on, as a teenager with a family who doesn't travel extremely often, what other choice do I have? AA 757 KOA-PHX and a bunch of...

767 because it has a comfortable configuration, and it has the beastly performance and looks of a 757. Sad that its little brother didn't last as long. I often like call those two the unbeatable duo. 747-8 comes in a very very close 2nd followed by the 747-400. Least favorite has got to be the CRAIC...

Re: The State of Global Terror 20 Years After 9/11

To be fair before 9/11 nobody had hijacked and flown aircraft into buildings before 9/11. What about the Bojinka Plot, where Ramzi Yousef and KSM planned to crash a Cessna full of explosives into the CIA headquarters. And the fact that planes weren't flown into buildings doesn't matter. There was s...

Try reading any of MacArthur Jobs books on the subject, probably the best around This! Those air disaster TV shows just make me cringe when they do the cockpit scenes. It heavily, heavily depends on many things like payload, trim settings, flap settings, thrust settings, temperature outside, and other factors, as the users above mentioned.
