I know they did a partial, mainly of the cockpit to determine what happened in there during the flight. You can see shots of it on either of the documentaries about the investigation. I've been on the ramp in a downpour like that. Can't even see the control tower which is less than a kilometer away, dry ground to standing in an inch of water in what seems like no time. IIRC from the local news broadcast I heard, it was the flight characteristics that alerted them to something being off, at which point they landed and looked for the damage. IIRC, that IMAX film they made from that footage of the 787 First Flight had some mention of the 747's "alternative concepts" when they first built it, can't recall if they were just sketches or whatnot, but I remember there being a version with the hump in the back, a full double decker, etc.

YYJ has the "major mess bin", a big red bin in the baggage area containing biohazard bags, masks, gloves, all the solidifying agents and disinfectants and such. Had to use it myself more than a couple times while I was working there. Some pretty bad stories come out when you see that bin being taken...

Good to hear everyone survived, though CBC/Chek Victoria was reporting from witnesses that there was "a stretcher that wasn't being attended to with a tarp over it, so that may be a possibly fatality". Maybe that was the just-in-case stretcher?
