Re: Rumour : a350 ahead in 6E widebody race

If they were able to increase the limit to 480 for the A351 I'd say they can easily get the A359 certified for 480 since it uses the same exit config and similar internal layout. Exit limits for the A350 haven't changed in case of the A350-900. So no matter what, it's still going to remain at 440 s...

Re: Malaysia Airlines News and Discussion - 2024

Mean while, MH introduce flight to maldives. https://malaysia.news.yahoo.com/malaysia-airlines-introduces-routes-maldives-055318915.html? They flew to Male previously, so this would be a reintroduction - I take it that the flights were cancelled during the pandemic? It was dropped in 2015, before t...

I thought that the A330neo was considered and not the A350. One can only guess so, they have been playing with the waters for some time and the media has reported a few times "near order", but nothing come to fruition. IndiGo's widebody order is something I will only believe when the dott...

Given as how the early rumours were for an order of 20 for Korean, I wonder if we will see the cancellation of some of the Asiana A350 undelivered backlog of 15 aircraft as a result of this larger-than-speculated order or if it is indeed cumulative. Not a huge order per se, but that's still quite a coup for Airbus. A split of widebodies is no surprise due to their current fleet make-up. but I am surprised to see A321neos. Re: Air Transat A330 replacement

Azul recently got a pair of used A330 NEO's off Air Asia. Perhaps Transat can do the same with some smaller carrier that wants to dump them? Air Belgium, Air Senegal, Garuda, Lion? After all they got some A332's off Mexicana when they went under. Of course there is plenty left on the market in term...

Re: 4 airlines on TPE SEA

Something I have never understood with airlines. There is a city like Las Vegas, that also has a fairly large Asian population on the west "coast". There is only one Asian carrier there (KAL) operating to Seoul. Why do airlines choose to serve LAX, SFO and SEA with redundant amounts of fl...

Re: Air Transat A330 replacement

Transat has all but abandoned the west, they are a YUL and YYZ airline at this point and YYC/YVR don't even factor into the discussion. Door limited to 420 pax, IIRC Max capacity is 460 according to Airbus website. The question I answered was for 789 max capacity, a figure I assume that is not list...

Re: Malaysia Airlines News and Discussion - 2024

Wow, I’m genuinely shocked MH is bringing back CDG and AMS given they were bleeding money on those routes. AMS was infamous for being mainly tourists, as a certain tragedy in 2014 exposed… I’m also surprised MH is refurbishing the A333/A350, given they virtually left their B777’s untouched between ...

Re: Australian Aviation - March 2024

QF originally invited and escorted MH into Oneworld to do what you suggested with MH from KUL but it never went anywhere and QF doesn't appear to have any interest in operating its own flights to the Malaysian capital. I had the same thought. It was Qantas that formally invited Malaysia Airlines to...

Re: Australian Aviation - March 2024

On the whole QF's Asian foray was interesting but as you say, ineffective (and possibly embarrassing). They're not the big fish in the small pond when they go to Asia and it would have required a different mindset, one that they probably couldn't adjust to. Didn't they try to strong-arm Hong Kong i...

Re: Boeing 787 Production / Deliveries - 2024

LN998 is back at Everett after repainting in Portland. We should know soon whether it will go to China Southern or to Xiamen (which is anyway majority owned by CZ). According to Planespottersnet LN 998, LN 1020 and LN 1050 are all destined for Xiamen Airlines. https://www.planespotters.net/airline/...

Re: Air Transat A330 replacement

1106/1116 are headed to RAM. 1106 just ferried to PAE and is going in for rework, and I’m assuming paint…. Ahh - didn't think about NTUs. And missed 450. On the NTUs - I thought 1106/1116 going to RAM, 1036/1046 to LH, and 688 to LY. Thank you for the updates, much appreciated. This will leave us w...
